Upper cabinet removal & reinstall / appliance garage question

Hi all! We are prepping our kitchen for new counters (getting installed in next 3 weeks) and professional painting (in 8 weeks). I have this corner cabinet that needs some work before the counter install. Right now, there is a upper corner appliance garage that goes to counter level. The bottom half is an appliance garage with a tambour door. I will either be removing the tambour door (likely) or we could potentially even be removing the entire bottom half of that cabinet but that seems hard since I believe it is all one piece.

My first question, I guess, is whether we need to be prepared for anything special in removing the upper cabinet in a way that we can re-install it? My husband is handy, if that helps. We anticipate having to remove the corner cabinet and the adjacent cabinet with microwave.

My second question - any tips for replacing this tambour door? I am thinking something that looks more like the regular cabinet door that has an upward hinge.
