In my kitchen, the hairline fractures of the painted finish on my Wood-Mode cabinets (the finish itself is available on either Brookhaven by Wood-Mode or Wood-Mode) were not just in the joints where the panels come together but also other random places. The panels came that way from Day One. Knowing what I do now, I'd probably opt for stained instead of painted cabinetry even though I like the painted look better in my particular kitchen. Our 25 plus year old Wood-Mode cherry cabinets that were stained never had any problems with their finish. That was one reason we went with Wood-Mode brand product again. But, Wood-Mode cabinets weren't structurally perfect. During our time owning our old Wood-Mode cherry kitchen, we did have to repair it, and one upper cabinet did fall apart to the point that it was unrepairable. Showrooms aren't a great place to see how good a finish will look in your home because anything flawed in a showroom's display was likely replaced to give a good impression. They are likely to have used their best installers with their best skills and more patience when building the showroom displays. We've been to 6 Wood-Mode and Brookhaven by Wood-Mode showrooms. None of them showed the painted finish cracks that our cabinets show. The Wood-Mode Home Care touch up kits do not fix the hairline cracks, either. After the kitchen is done, we actually do have more cabinetry needs. We had planned to do Wood-Mode or Brookhaven cabinets for our hallways, entertainment center and two bathrooms, but because of the poor customer service from the manufacturer when we have had complaints, we will be favoring other cabinet companies and we will be favoring stained finishes. At first, Wood-Mode tried to blame my house for the cracking on the newly installed cabinets. They sent someone out to test the humidity in the house. Our house is reasonably climate controlled. We are in a temperate climate and use our heating and air conditioning in a usual fashion. We don't use humidifiers or swamp coolers. The house is not the problem. Something with their finish is the problem. Really, these big cabinet companies need to invest in research to figure out a way to make a painted finish that doesn't have so many problems. If you do buy painted cabinets, carefully inspect all doors and reject all doors and drawers with defects at the door of your house. Don't let them bring it in. Demand immediate replacements even if it slows down the project. Here is an example of the fissures in my kitchen. This door is at eye level. It is very noticable:

@Mavis Jones Our builder contracted with the local Reico office. I'll start out with something I'm sure you will already know, and most likely agree with, that every Reico office is different (staff, experience, expertise). I didn't find our Reico designer to be helpful in choosing options, but I came to the appointment ready to roll (our builder provided all the options prior to the appointment). I came in thinking I would go with Ralston or Tolani until she pulled out a new option the builder added to the list, Glenrock. I went with that and love them (in Kona stain). My husband pulled out all the countertop options and narrowed them down and I made the final decision. The designer was helpful only in ticking off all her boxes for the builder. But that's just me as a customer, other customers she'd provide more guidance. I like the cabinets a lot. I've had better cabinets in a previous home but I like these. I chose a recessed design and the inset sounds like MDF (in my previous house they were all wood, including the inset), but I don't go around tapping on the inset so it doesn't matter to me. It seems like the finish on these is more prone to scratches so someday I'll get around to filling them in with the stain pens they provided. They're easy to clean with water and vinegar. The stain color is consistent throughout the product. These pics were before we moved in so there's some building/construction dust still on them.

We had a LOT of problems with CliqStudios. Once we started installing we found numerous quality issues with cabinets - nailed together completely out of square, chipped, very thin - almost transparent - paint coverage in areas, they did not pre-drill holes for screws and MORE than half of the wood drawer supports were split (we had to take them apart, glue them and reassemble), as well as serious problems with depth of cabinets in the design put together by the designer. Cliqstudios replaced all the most serious quality issues at no charge to us and we did some repairs ourselves, but when we discovered problems in the design they refused to do more saying they had done enough to make us happy. ): Seriously? I told our designer that having cabinet doors that would open completely out to fold back against the side of two of our upper cabinets was "an essential part" of our kitchen design. SO much that we would have to purchase the cabinets elsewhere if Cliqstudios cabinet doors could not do that. He sent me a link to hinges and assured me they would. However, he was wrong. 270 degree hinges won't work with faceframe cabinets. He said "My bad" but the company flatly refused to do anything about it. We had to have two custom cabinets made at an additional cost of $1,000. He also ordered all four of the base drawer cabinets on one side of our pass through too deep for our room (six inches deeper than I requested). Would have cost us an additional $3,000 to fix, but we decided to do extra demolition to make them work. He also ordered the side panels for our fridge too short. They needed to be fridge depth. Again, we had a very explicit conversation about in which he advised me we would have to have a frame built to bring the upper cabinet forward if we wanted to do that. We said we did. When they came too short, he actually lied and told me that the deeper panels weren't available when we ordered them and that we could "now" buy the deeper ones. I found a Cliqstudios video online from two years before that showed the deeper panels being a being a better design option. STILL Cliqstudios refused to replace them even though we offered to use one of the shorter ones where it wouldn't show and just have one replaced. We had to re-purchase the deeper panel for $340 more. They acted like they had done us a HUGE favor to ship it for free. Overall, unhappy with Cliqstudios. However, we could not afford the same kitchen with any other company. If you decide to purchase with them, understand that they will not back up ANYTHING verbal. Make sure every single thing you discuss is very CLEARLY in writing. They may not back that up either, but it should help. Don't trust the designer to get the measurements right. Go over every single line item by item. They don't make it easy. The line item description on our inventory only showed the width not the depth of the cabinets/fridge panel (in 2018, maybe they fixed that now.) The secret was in their code for the item. Learn what their codes mean and double and triple check not only the width but the depth of each item. Make sure you order every single thing you need the FIRST time. They will hit you with a $300 shipping fee for just ONE more piece of molding if shipped after. Our designer shorted us in that area too. We had more molding made by the same person who did our custom cabinets. Found out that was WAY cheaper than buying it from Cliqstudios. In retrospect would have ordered all the trim elsewhere. I was so upset we considered a lawsuit and thought about asking our credit card to get involved with helping us get some of our money back, but we were doing the install ourselves and it was just too much to deal with at the time. I still plan to file a complaint with the better business bureau. They supposedly have a warranty but I no longer have confidence that it would be worth anything if we need to use it. Hoping the cabinets hold up! They look good installed....Hope this helps!

Well,after modifying the floor plan and reevaluating the cabinet construction, upgrades, up charges and dealers, we are planning on the Shiloh Richmond beaded inset door in Chestnut Hickory with a black or mocha highlight. Still deciding if I want slab drawers or 5 piece. I need to see if the price difference in drawers is worth the expense. I have a rather small kitchen and realize that the Hickory itself adds a lot of detail and I just don't want to overwhelm the space. i am going to have almost all drawers. My one concern is picking a counter top and backsplash that won't compete with the cabinets and make it seem too busy. Absolute black was suggested but I am not partial to all black. I was going to go with a maple cabinet to make all of the rest of the choices easier, but the hickory just speaks to me. Kompy, thanks for your assistance. Gayle
