IâÂÂve used similar countertop service providers in the past with no issues (IâÂÂd like to think IâÂÂm able to tell armatures from professionals), IâÂÂve also walked away on quite a few when IâÂÂm not confident in their services. Although I am excited about the price, it is not at all the driving force. IâÂÂve gone as far as coming close to ordering from the states very expensive slabs but decided against it since pictures are not always accurate. Bottom line is most of the time items are expensive due to the very high mark-up costs and a little shopping around helps. My Uba Tuba 16x16 granite tiles in my foyer cost over $20 per square foot special delivered at home depot and I paid just over $4 per square foot (installed myself) and no- not china. And yes I really love the granite and just wanted re-confirmation that it will go with my cabinets. The answers to all your questions is yes. But next time, please do your homework on the company that you choose to do the work. There’s a lot of jack legs out there and it appears you found one. Ask for references and he offers to put you in contact with say 2 of his clients to check his work, ask to see at least 10. Hope you had a contract specifying exactly what was to be done and any recourse available to you. And make sure their licensed and insured. Hope this can be resolved without a mountain of stress and frustration for you.

You hit the nail on the head...I like the color of the more grey one, but I worry it will have a fake look. I want to like the one with the real pebble look more, but it falls flat. I'm waiting for a sample of a terrazzo look tile from Tilebar that's also polished. I like a mid-century look, so hoping we will like these. I put it together with a couple of combos in a visualizer with a counter similar to ours. This isn't actually our space (Ours is demo'd), but it's similar. I raised the counters in my former house to 39". The DW sat on a little platform, which was hidden by a tall toe kick. The surrounding cabinets were taller, not just a higher toe kick. Picture below kind of shows it. We did that kitchen in 2008, and I never even thought about how the toe kick looked, just that I liked that the DW was higher. Now I'm doing a remodel in a different house. Just yesterday my KD and I met with the cabinet maker to finalize the design, and I'm raising just the island to 38". (Perimeter stays standard height because I have a range.) He asked about raising the DW (on island, paneled) vs having a trim piece on top, and I voted to raise it again. NOTE: In this case, I'll have a taller toe kick under all the island cabinets. I'm not concerned because it faces an aisle so no one will see it. If I opted to keep the DW lower, I could have had taller cabinets / deeper drawers, and kept a consistent toe kick across the bottom. Neither the cabinet maker nor my KD liked the thought of a raised DW with a tall toe kick next to cabinets with a standard toe kick. So here are the choices as I see them: 1) raise DW and all toe kicks; 2) keep DW low with trim at top, keep all toe kicks standard, get taller cabinets/deeper drawers; 3) have a staggered toe kick with taller under a raised DW, standard under the surrounding cabinets. old house DW, 39" counters:
