Garden centres still operating in Ontario given Covid-19 restrictions?
Comments (10)^^ Yes. I heard the same thing from a nursery employee this weekend -- busiest season they've ever had. Saw signs in another nursery that due to unprecedented demand, they're out of many items so please be patient -- this place was wiped out of pretty much everything but a few tables of scraggly leftovers. Other nurseries I've been to have been pretty well stocked, although the season for buying annuals is winding down naturally. I hope the trend will continue - that more people will keep gardening once the pandemic situation blows over....See MoreSchool hasn't started, but we have our first student with +covid19.
Comments (24)I had to leave for awhile, and when I returned I found another message from the school staff. The school system wants all parents to complete a survey about whether they intend to send their children to school this fall, and if so, whether they intend to have the kids ride the school buses. If their decision is not to have the children attend, the board wants to discuss the decision with them. The message also mentioned the on-line learning option. I think this was in planning stages before the positive covid19 case was identified, but it's nice to know there are options. BTW, I'd heard that the neighboring town's mayor had announced a mask mandate (churches excepted), and my trip today was the first time I've been in the city limits since my father's last cardiologist appointment mid-March. I saw many people outside without masks, some walking together. Some people had masks pulled down, and I watched as one lady pulled up her mask as she entered a convenience store. My doctor told me his opinion is that wearing a mask is much more important than worrying about contact with money, mail, etc., although hand-washing is always important. A mask is required for an appointment, and of course the staff were all wearing masks. He also said that the staff is having a difficult time finding disposable masks, and when they can find them the price is more than double what it was before covid19....See MoreIs anyone else having major Covid kitchen cabinet delays.
Comments (10)A common issue, sometimes, is that lead times are given upon ordering...but what people don't realize is that sometimes the cabinet order can take 1-3 days to do (might as well say an extra week for that). Then the cabinet factory has a processing time, usually up to a week (custom is more)....then they send the factory acknowledgment to the dealer. Any change can delay an order to the next week. So an additional 2-4 weeks can happen just from the time it takes to do the order, check the order...etc. I always tell my clients...the lead time is "X" plus an addtional 1-3 weeks for ordering, processing and changes/fixes to the order. Yours does seem a little longer than normal. But if they are as busy as we are.....one little flicker in the schedule can throw everybody off. Right now, we are booking in to January 2021. We allow some wiggle room, but if something happened (illness, death, delivery issue, damage issue...etc), it would throw us off and be very difficult to get everyone rescheduled in a timely manner. If you are truly concerned, ask for proof that the acknowledgment has been sent by the factory...or ask to see a delivery date from the factory. Your cabinets might be coming in on time....it could be an install delay. Life happens...and right now is the craziest time you could be doing a kitchen. We are probably 2-3 times more busy than normal. Our appointments are booked out a month...and we're having to turn down new leads daily, if they aren't willing to wait for us in 2021. Never had to do that before...ever....See MoreShe's out of "Covid Jail"
Comments (19)That's good news Debby, I'm sending positive energy she continues to improve and quickly. That's wonderful her boyfriend hasn't come down with it - reflects well on him that he stayed to help. I hope its all better days ahead for your family...and that you begin to relax now. Not let your guard down, just begin to feel better too....See MoreJasdip
