Log Cabin Bathroom
Comments (14)Karen, I love the T&G and the antique soap box with twigs. Have you considered an Adirondack-style mirror above the vanity? It's rustic without being country cutesy, and would be so compatible. There are many styles and materials, i.e., birch bark, hickory, twigs, etc. Some incorporate colors that could be picked up in other parts of the house. Here's one example, but there are dozens if you do a google search for "rustic Adirondack mirrors"....See More1860 log cabin needs help
Comments (28)crl_ I agree that there's a lot that can be done while still being sensitive to the fact that it is a log home. The photo above is interesting in that there is still a lot of wood, but it's clearly a lot more inviting. The open shelves and simple lines suggest an informality that would be keeping with a cabin. If using different cabinets, I'd avoid turned legs, routed edges, or anything that is too "fancy" in this case. Don't forget that rugs, open shelves with light/color and other accessories can add color and light. I believe the issue of the layout and such requires drawings and better photos. I've always had the range in the island -- for me that works so much better than the sink in the island. I feel strongly that sink, dishwasher, upper cabinets for storing dishes, should all be on the same wall and close proximity. However, you make a good point about the outside wall and venting. The photos suggest a very limited kitchen size --- which contributes to the feeling of it being dark. OP: Any chance we could see a floor plan?...See MoreNeed help furnishing and decorating log cabin

Comments (12)I think your ideas are spot on. <---written by a person who hasn't had a scrap of natural wood trim or walls in decades. I'm a white paint person that prefers to have my color in cabinetry, floors, furnishings and art. I'm also a person who lived in northern Wisconsin for 10 years and "selling and rebuilding" isn't as easy there as it is in other places. Little cabins sell but it's a tougher row to hoe with a large home. Large homes of any style. There are only so many buyers. It's too painful to talk about how I know this, lol. Since you have your own painters, maybe consider whitewashing the ceiling and painting the rest? If you don't like it, you can always paint over the white wash. I like the cable railing ideas....See Morevinmarks
