Help! Which Plan for Storage around the Range Do You Prefer?
Comments (85)Ice, thanks for posting your lovely kitchen. I struggle with visualizing ideas, so it is really helpful! Funky, if we go with additional lighting I think you are right that the sconces are going to work better with the look and small space. It also makes a lot of sense to add a little additional light - it can always be turned down - and to have a couple lights that are task-specific or for mood. The artwork idea is so fun. I'm going to have to think about this! I also have that evil powder room wall, if I could find the right decoration. There's something terribly pleasing about having begun the kitchen planning with the thought, "Oh my, where am I going to put all my stuff? How is this ever going to work?" and to be drawing toward the conclusion and be thinking things like, "My storage plan around the range should be nothing, or art. Bbtrix, Thanks for hunting out this pictures for me. The style you pictured and the placement might look really good in this situation. The pulls are a kind of a strange color, "antique pewter," so maybe hard to match. The faucet is chrome and lighting fixtures in the dining area are currently dark bronze. So ... we're already getting patchworky, for better or worse. Here are the pulls - first is the stock photo, and the second is a photo I took when investigating flooring. (We're probably about to order the brown tile on the top.) The pull looks more silvery in direct light:...See MoreWhich do you prefer?
Comments (32)Can you do the stone on the front and side and leave it off or do something different on the rear? Like jannicone said, that little strip of stone between the doors always looks odd to me. Thanks Annette. My feeling is I do it all around the whole garage or not at all. Otherwise it looks like those houses that have the fancy brick on the front of the house and when you go around the side, it's vinyl siding. That always bugged me. CP - This is totally OT but what kind of windows are you going with in your build? Single hung and fixed for the square windows. We're in hurricane country so must use wind impact windows. The brand we're using will be Custom Window Systems. The grids will be the simulated divided lights....See Morewhich do you prefer?
Comments (69)Homepro1, Salti and Dadoes, thanks for helping diagnose my problem! I wasn't even intending on investigating. I had asked the LG repair center about the drain hose a while back and they said it couldn't be the problem, that it's not made of rubber or something. The details are coming back now! I just assumed it was the rubber gasket and my own repair guy said that replacing it won't solve my problem that the machines are just designed that way. So I chalked it up to just eventually needing to replace it with a top load. But the video on the Washer Fan website and stmt by dadoes leads me to believe it isn't unique to front loads. So every three years, I'll just check on the drain hose and perhaps invest in a washer fan. Don't want to mess around with mold! And thank you I will make sure the drain pipe is vented. I wonder if that is why I didn't have a problem until moving into this house. Or it could just be that the mold is getting progressively worse as years go on ( now 5 years old). To clarify, this machine was moved from Chicago, to our rental home in CA to our permanent home in CA. I should've just left it in Chicago! Lol and sorry to OP for hijacking the thread. But hopefully you learned something from this :)...See MoreWhich mirror and light do you prefer?
Comments (39)So do you match the sconce to the mirror or match it to the faucet? I usually match to the mirror but I like the simpler style of the nickel sconce with the plain mirror frame. Did you see the Rejuvenation Eastmoreland sconce? It seems to be a good compromise between the two you show. It comes in a lot of metals and you can choose your shade too. I do like the wider shade as shown for over a round mirror. I know nothing about the quality of light with Edison bulbs in clear shades but I prefer a white shade. Solid brass and made in Portland, not China. There is an arched arm style too. 20% off lighting! https://www.rejuvenation.com/catalog/products/eastmoreland-single-sconce...See MoreFlo Mangan
