Help: I Need Ideas For Side Entrance Planters !
Comments (11)Kswl and Flattie, first off I just want to welcome both of you to the holiday forum. It's allot of fun here during this season with everyone posting their lovely pictures. Kswl, your side entrance is so nice, I can tell you have a lovely home. What a shame those trees died, they sure were pretty and you could have easily added Christmas decs to them. How about putting your junipers in there, and then filling in at the base with poinsettias? I've seen that done somewhere--maybe in a magazine or on Karen's inspiration album. Sure hope you will take pics of your Christmas decor to share with us here--then we will feel like we were able to be on your home tour too! ;o) Luvs...See More80's house - Please help identify style(s)
Comments (26)I was thinking about iron - and my wife like the "chanel staircase" look, but I'm afraid it's too decorative for my taste, and also as kswl said, it might be out of style soon. I'd like something a little more timeless. Kswl, thanks for all of your comments - the only real marble is the floor of the entryway, everything else is painted on, thank god. Lazygardens, that was hilarious - and some great ideas. Do you happen to know of a nice example of the california beach house feel? It sounds intriguing. And suer0 - my wife says the first thing she wants me to do after closing is tear down the mirrors - and I couldn't agree more. Yikes! I will absolutely keep you all updated as I go - all of your comments so far have been extremely valuable. Our closing is on Feb 16th. Thanks!...See MoreUpdating 80s contemporary shed style in Denver
Comments (5)Thank you, Laura, Patricia and Glo! I do agree painting the trim the same as the house to blend in will help bring it more transitional than traditional. Great point! Will definitely be replacing deck railing to metal and front doors to something that brings in light. I love the frosted suggestion to keep privacy. By saying I want to keep the brick, I just don't want to replace it. I am open to painting it, but maybe that is a bad idea? I like to concept of dark charcoal, but the light brick looks a bit jarring against this. Should I look towards a lighter, or white palette for the exterior if I keep the brick as-is? If going with a darker palette, do I paint/wash the brick to be less contrasting? Also, I am still stuck on where I could add some natural cedar siding accents to bring in some nautral color/texture. Would I do this on the right entry wall, the entire entry cove, 270°?...See MoreHelp! Need to update 80's ranch style house with dated stone exterior
Comments (19)I am no landscaping expert, but even something like this makes your entry more important. I'm sure that someone else will have some better ideas on how to improve this area and make it more welcoming. OK just saw the entrance image. Are we going for a contemporary home or an olde tyme cottage home?????? Have their been some changes to the original building?? The reason I ask is that I was getting ready to propose a contemporary garage door to go with your boulder stones. Which was do you want to go???...See More- 3 years ago
