Front Door Help
Hi,
Our house is painted Amherst Gray we have white trim and shutters.
We currently can't get a piece of paint off of our current door and we do not know the color. However, it is in the red family. We were thinking of doing Benjamin Moore Dinner Party or Red Rock. I don't want the door to be bright red at all. I want something classy not bold or bright.
Below is an older picture of the house. It looks green but it is Amherst Gray.

Comments (12)Update on our door- they sanded it down but it’s near impossible to get all the old stain and polyurethane off for the door to fully take the new stain. There two options now- paint it or get a new door and honestly we have been renovating since March and I am so over this, so I am headed to the paint store to pick out some paint that brings me joy and I think in the king run this will be a good decision to paint it cause the upkeep is less over time. We live by the ocean so weather takes a toll on doors here and they need refinishing every couple years etc so I am just going to have it painted and can always change the color easily in the future. Another bit redder red is Carriage House Red.
Then there is Palace Arms Red.

3 years agolast modified: 3 years agoany of your dark red colors will fade the fastest on an exterior. you have to get a paint specifically for exterior doors. they might even have an anti-fade component in it.
For BM I'd use the Advance.
If you want a really, really good paint, try Fine Paints of Europe Hollandlac ( they can tint it to any BM color) The hollandlac is the best paint on the market. oil base and looks amazing on a front door. (comes in diff sheens) It's expensive paint, but they use it for exterior, (oil base and gloss finish will help repel the uv rays and water damage) so it lasts.
or, try this MM front door paint.
