A canopy would work as long as it’s a twin. I love that look and kind of forgot to explore that option!!! And I agree, tall bureaus aren’t ideal but unfortunately it’s my only choice in this room. There’s only wall space for one horizontal dresser and she will really need the extra storage of the two lingerie chests since her closet is tiny. All of our furniture throughout our home is anchored to the wall (she’s our 3rd kid), so that will be a given. This won’t be her forever room, so trying to make do for the next five or so years until we either move or build an addition. I like having a switched outlets. The problem in my bedroom is that the switched outlet is in the wrong place; I wish it had been placed next to the bed. To avoid the problem RL mentions, have the electrician wire a duplex outlet with one switched and one unswitched outlet. (I think this is the standard; all my switched outlets were wired this way.) P.S. I installed a Leviton P07-T5632 duplex outlet with USB next to the bed so could charge my phone without needing a charger.

Lavender is a color used with North blue/gray light. How about this idea? Paint the walls a color which loves lavender as an accent, but is the best companion with south light? It has a very romantic name and a 4 year old may fall in love with it: B.M. Moonshine: Paint the ceiling B.M. Spring Violet. Sweet bedding and a fluffy rug…could last through grade school. Add art your daughter loves on the wall…. This is a first time, fun, Mom/Daughter experience you will remember forever. My daughter and I still do it and she is 50. Her summer Cape Cod house and, recently, (although delayed by covid), her Boston condo, keeps us together, having fun and spending her money.
