Need some help with kids room paint colors
Comments (0)We have a 5 year old boy who wants a blue room but I want to do a big boy blue that will grow with him. I don't want too dark- any suggestions? My 3 year old son wants green (to be honest, I want green for him) that will match a denim duvet and orange accents. Any suggestions? Finally, for a baby girl I am thinking a light pink or a light green. Has anyone done or seen pink with a green ceiling? Too much? I prefer to use Benjamin Moore paint. Thanks and would love to see photos as well....See MoreRoman shades for kids room, but what color?
Comments (1)I would prefer not to have to change them in the future so I would try to match something that will always be in the room no matter what color the walls or the bedding are. Do you have white molding/doors. What about the furniture, is it wood, maybe you can do brown for ds and always incorporated the brown in the decor. Try jcpenney....See MoreSuggestions for kids room curtain panels
Comments (8)I think of mildew as being more pinkish like what sometimes forms on our shower grout but is easy to clean up. I also think of smelly damp clothes as having mildewed from, say, having been left in the washing machine too long. But mold, I think of as being black or very dark greenish and also having a yucky musty odor. When we moved into our house many years ago, we had to clean a small area of mold that grew beneath wallpaper underneath a window and went all the way into the drywall and studs. We read on the internet the precautions that should be taken so that the mold spores don't get spread throughout the house as you remove it. It can be really scary to read about mold on the internet, I'll warn you! We did some things wrong having read about it too late. For instance, we bagged the wallpaper and drywall trash and carried it through the house and out the door to dispose of it rather than throw it out the window. That could have caused spores to spread througout the house potentially causing more problems than we started with. We haven't had any resulting problems to date, though. We had to treat all surfaces in the bathroom, and had to sand and bleach the studs because we could see and smell mold on them. We also read about borax being a safer way to treat mold than bleach, and it can also prevent mold growth, so we treated with borax as well. I wouldn't know how to treat carpet, but I would research it online first so you don't make the situation worse by either spreading the mold, or causing more to grow by wetting the carpet during cleanup. You might try calling the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)and ask them how to handle it. They advised us how to clean up the mold we found and gave us guidelines for when it could be cleaned up by the homeowner vs. a mold remediation company. (Ours was a small enough area that they said we could treat it ourselves). I found this number for EPA directory assistance on their site: (202) 272-0167. Good luck to you and your daughter. Comments (9)Usually in children's bedrooms, especially nurseries, we recommend room darkening because of nap time and bed times before the sun completely sets. It doesn't look the the solar shades you currently have are giving you much room darkening at all, even with the temporary sheet. I would not recommend adding another shade over the existing shades. I would remove the current shades and replace them with a room darkening shade. You can get Roman shades with room darkening linings. The other option would be to do a duo shade. You can get honeycomb shades that are two-on-one - a sheer on top and room darkening on the bottom. You can also get solar shades that have two shades on one. One of the shades would be see-through and the other would be room darkening. This option is also available in Roman shades and woven shades depending upon the brand....See Moreheleneo1974
