I tell myself I'm so tired of cooking...breakfast, lunch, dinner!

Then I'm stuck watching fix it shows or cooking shows! All of the sudden I have a need for lasagne!

ALL DAY PROJECT!

Oh well, it was delish!

I'm backwards. I tell myself I want to try new,elaborate dishes and then look around at the mess I made halfway through, get sick of fiddling with it and hate that I started.

I'm with you, Nancy! I keep getting some prized find on my grocery order list and push the button to get it before it disappears again, then I'm obliged to cook everything! I'm getting a better rhythm now, and most of my desires actually get delivered, and promptly, rather than five days out. I had two orders that way this week, and missed only a jar of sauce (got a different one from the other store), a half pound of a particular kind of butter (I can wait), a pint of cream (got non-organic), and a chuck roast (I haven't wanted to spend on the butcher but I'll be calling...). Yes, we have plenty of milk and ground beef, but you can't get chuck or cream!

Y'know what I did today? Caught up on some correspondence. Made some calls. I did not cook nor clean anything in the kitchen!! I didn't even zap anything. Missing minions. Cold from the fridge all the way, and a few dishes waiting in the sink.

LIBERATION!!!

Back to the grind, er, kitchen, tomorrow.

I hope you make a big lasagna and don't have to cook for a few days...

Long ago I grew a Tahoma Glacier for a couple years, gorgeous flower, but gave it away to a friend in NY because my summers were way too hot for it. The main problem with growing this particular hybid is keeping it cooler than your usual Oncidium intergeneric. If you can keep this plant in bright light (it doesn't need direct sun) and in the 50s/low 60s at night and no more than about 75F or so during the day (check the temperature right where the plant is, not just the room temp), not allow it to completely dry out but not keep it sopping wet, it should do well for you. Of course, it won't like 20% humidity, but should be happy enough with something in the 50% range, especially if it is higher at night. I had mine potted in a plastic pot in fine bark/sponge rock/charcoal mix, which is what I have almost everything potted in. Your mileage may vary there. Basically, I grew it exactly like my Sharry Baby, only cooler -- that is why I finally had to give it away. Get back to us when you have your hygrometer.

Ripening fruits, changing color in particular, is due some internal changes inside the pod. That is assuming that the pod has matured. I have bough green peppers with a faint suggestion of color , then let them stay on the counter. They turn beautiful red. Case in point: SERRANO, SHISHITO, CAYENNE, GYPSY, CUBANELLE. I have planed the seeds from all of those store boughts an are growing and fruiting right now. But having said all that, I don't know what happens to heat and flavor. But I think some peppers, when dried develop even better flavor, maybe due to some slow fermentation inside the pod.

Thank you WIP08. After many, many tries with sms alerts from a website called wiialert, I was able to order one today! I was able to order one a week ago from Sears, but my order was cancelled the next day, and my money was refunded. Apparently Sears has a marketplace, just like Amazon, and it wasn't from Sears but another vendor through Sears, and I suppose the seller realized he could get 2X as much as the retail price, he cancelled my order and relisted it for twice the price. Then a friend of mine in the South put it on FB, and one of her friends stepped up and was willing to sell it to me. But when I contacted her, she never responded. Then on Leapfrog's fb page people were recommending to try these websites that alert you when they come back in stock. You have to be really quick, b/c they will sell out in less than 2 minutes. After numerous attempts, I finally was able to order one today. During all this, a friend of mine became really ill and was hospitalized. In addition, my sister had surgery and had to have half her thyroid removed. I decided not to make myself crazy over it, because in the end, it's really not that important. I just didn't want to disappoint my daughter, who has been talking about the silly leappad every day with her sister. In the end I got one (at least I'm hoping I did). I just think it's really sad that there ARE so many available through scalpers on eBay and Amazon, who want to take advantage of parents like me who just want to give their kid the ONE toy they are asking for at Christmas.

I find that using a timer really helps me. I time e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g, chores, work breaks, computer time, tea time, making the bed...beat that timer. You can't do everything at once; no one can. You can tackle one drawer, shelf, small stack of papers, box, etc. for 15-20 minutes. It helps me to look at my task. Yesterday I had to purge one box of fabric. I have to get rid of x number of pieces so the rest would fit loosely in a smaller container. I gave myself 20 minutes. I had a box for the Thrift Store; I had the new container; I had the large, overstuffed container. I set the timer for 20 minutes. Sort, sort, sort. The projects I no longer wanted to do; the projects I didn't think I'd live long enough to even contemplate completing, LOL, went in the donation box. In just 16 minutes the "keep" container was 3/4ths full; the donation box was full and out in the boot of the car. It was scarier to think about that it was to do. Someone is going to find a great deal and have fun using the fabrics that were choking my mental space. Some things I will FreeCycle or offer on Craig's List, but often it's just important to get it out of your house and off of your mind so "life" can be about living, not about sorting and churning "stuff." Keep going; the more stuff that is out of your house the more room you'll have to live!

I did make a BIG lasagna and have a foodsaver so that we can enjoy a few more meals later on.

I also made it an all day project partially out of boredom and partially so I could clean as I cooked and not have a sink full of dishes looking at me the next morning!

I must say, DH cooked breakfast this morning and will be grilling steaks tonight, so I do get a little break!
