Why do I do this?

I tell myself I'm so tired of cooking...breakfast, lunch, dinner!

Then I'm stuck watching fix it shows or cooking shows! All of the sudden I have a need for lasagne!

ALL DAY PROJECT!

Oh well, it was delish!

I'm backwards. I tell myself I want to try new,elaborate dishes and then look around at the mess I made halfway through, get sick of fiddling with it and hate that I started.

I'm with you, Nancy! I keep getting some prized find on my grocery order list and push the button to get it before it disappears again, then I'm obliged to cook everything! I'm getting a better rhythm now, and most of my desires actually get delivered, and promptly, rather than five days out. I had two orders that way this week, and missed only a jar of sauce (got a different one from the other store), a half pound of a particular kind of butter (I can wait), a pint of cream (got non-organic), and a chuck roast (I haven't wanted to spend on the butcher but I'll be calling...). Yes, we have plenty of milk and ground beef, but you can't get chuck or cream!

Y'know what I did today? Caught up on some correspondence. Made some calls. I did not cook nor clean anything in the kitchen!! I didn't even zap anything. Missing minions. Cold from the fridge all the way, and a few dishes waiting in the sink.

LIBERATION!!!

Back to the grind, er, kitchen, tomorrow.

I hope you make a big lasagna and don't have to cook for a few days...

And now you will have to buy the "rubra" form as well! I agree it is a cool plant, and surprising in that it seems to do as well in California as it does back east. One of those accent flowering winter bloomers that has interesting form, and almost a tropical look to it when in leaf. I find I have to do a lot of thinning on it to keep it in bounds, and can't say that it has a fragrance that carries, but it is nice. I can relate to the shopping bug, plants were the only thing I shopped for this Christmas season, and got some beauties, like a really full Sticks on Fire Euphorbia in firey color for the back deck, to chase away those winter blahs. I also went for a couple of apricot flowering Grevillea 'Superb' in full bloom, also for the winter color and to attract the Anna hummingbirds. Last were some really beautiful and rare Restios with gorgeous stems, Cannamois virgata, which I rationalized might not be available for purchase next spring, better nab them now! Magnolia stellata and M. soulangeana and M. denudata are also great temptations this time of year, but...I...Must...Resist...

I had the same concern. I do have a little coffee station that my Dh built. It was a consolation prize because I really wanted the Bosch built in coffee maker. And he said it was too much and that our Coffee maker works just fine. I have no idea what you should do. I wish I had a suggestion. Here is my coffee nook. Keep watch on the government. There is talk about passing "clunker" legislation. In effect, the government will offer a rebate on the purchase of a new vehicle if the new vehicle gets better fuel mileage than the one being replaced. This rebate is in addition to any offered by the manufacturer. The amount may range from a few hundred dollars to $2500 depending on the difference in fuel mileage. Its an incentive to increase the average fuel mileage of the vehicles on the road. You currently have a Chevy Tahoe at 14.5 miles per gallon. You expressed an interest in the Nissan Cube. Before you become too enamored of the Nissan Cube, check its engine size and power. I believe its a huge step down from you present vehicle. I am concerned that you will not like its weak acceleration. I know! I know. The Nissan is a lighter vehicle and doesn't need a big an engine, but do this: Check the power to weight ratio, e.g., power divided by weight. Use this number to compare the two vehicles. That will give you a rough comparison for acceleration. Its not the whole story, but its a good starting point. Look at the Honda CRV-4, the Toyota RAV-4, and the Ford Escape.

A Baptista sphaerocarpa poked its little head up today in one of my pots. I love when those bigger seeds come up and push up the potting soil, looks so frisky and alive. Also, the Mountain Mint came up, talk about teeny tiny plants. I'll probably end up frying them in my sunny window. They came up very easily, a bit too easily if you get my drift. I was hesitant to type that because I don't think its appropriate nor do I have any desire to get into a political back and forth discussion on a forum like this (or anywhere else for that matter) but I'm really scared. The recent developments are grotesquely disturbing and its affecting my state of mind. These are worrisome times but I've been observing and commented on Hot Topics (on one of the not so 'hot' threads) that it appears a long dormant patriotism is awakening due to resistance. We are for the most part a good and generous people even if we don't look like it right now to the rest of the world.

I did make a BIG lasagna and have a foodsaver so that we can enjoy a few more meals later on.

I also made it an all day project partially out of boredom and partially so I could clean as I cooked and not have a sink full of dishes looking at me the next morning!

I must say, DH cooked breakfast this morning and will be grilling steaks tonight, so I do get a little break!
