Well I am still looking for cars....don't know why....but my Tahoe does have 142,ooo + miles on it and I am thinking I still want to get something smaller....with better gas mileage...I average about 14.5 in mine now..not good...Anyways......today on the msn page they show the Nissan Cube...it is sooo cool....I am going to have to go check it out this week I think....Here is a link to it..I know it won't be as comfortable as my Tahoe but other then when I am driving to where DH is out on the road I don't go much...so I am thinking it would be fine and it has room for the 3 dogs....Stacy

That's cute. It reminds me of the Scion. Have you looked at the Ford Flex. I love that car. It is soooo nice inside.

I think I received your seeds today. There was no note and no return address label so it is hard to say. The envelope was decorated with halloween stickers. The seeds included columbine, field pumpkin, elephant head, orange cosmos, bachelor button, swan gourd, and white patty pan squash. If these were from you, Thank you very much. I can't wait to try growing the gourds and the elephant head amaranthus...looks like a lot of fun...and I can spend the winter painting the gourds.

I find that using a timer really helps me. I time e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g, chores, work breaks, computer time, tea time, making the bed...beat that timer. You can't do everything at once; no one can. You can tackle one drawer, shelf, small stack of papers, box, etc. for 15-20 minutes. It helps me to look at my task. Yesterday I had to purge one box of fabric. I have to get rid of x number of pieces so the rest would fit loosely in a smaller container. I gave myself 20 minutes. I had a box for the Thrift Store; I had the new container; I had the large, overstuffed container. I set the timer for 20 minutes. Sort, sort, sort. The projects I no longer wanted to do; the projects I didn't think I'd live long enough to even contemplate completing, LOL, went in the donation box. In just 16 minutes the "keep" container was 3/4ths full; the donation box was full and out in the boot of the car. It was scarier to think about that it was to do. Someone is going to find a great deal and have fun using the fabrics that were choking my mental space. Some things I will FreeCycle or offer on Craig's List, but often it's just important to get it out of your house and off of your mind so "life" can be about living, not about sorting and churning "stuff." Keep going; the more stuff that is out of your house the more room you'll have to live!

Hey Betty, When a child has had a bad dream, they seek out the safety and security of snuggling in bed with Mom and/or Dad. That is a typical thing every parent deals with...and I understand that. But there is another school of thought out there, and the one that their father and I believe in, that those who follow this practice routinely may be causing their children more harm than good. It's ok to do it from time to time...(I allow them to lay with me in the middle of the night, but take them back) but it needs to be done on a limited basis because it's possible for that child to develop a dependency on such a routine. Children who co-sleep, or regularly sleep side-by-side with their moms and dads, could face fears of detachment when it comes time to sleep in their own bed or even get dropped off at school in the morning. Having their own bed helps kids become independent. It's a healthy way for them to disconnect from their parents and function on their own. Not only that, talk about a way to ruin a marriage...or at least complicate things. Sometimes bedtime is the only time parents get to be together. It's just not a time or place for the kids to be often. What it all comes down to is just a matter of opinion. However, there should be a common-sense approach to co-sleeping if a parent wants to do it...and it should apply to single parents too. There's a difference between playing in bed with your child on a Saturday morning or letting then lay with you for a little bit or sleep overnight after a bad dream and making it a weekday ritual. Bio-Mom does it every time there is a problem. Sometimes every night that they are there. I think that's way too much...and contributes to the problems that Sam has when she needs to let go. It seems that Marie is allowing her to sleep with her more and now Sam can't even go into her preschool without clinging,something she has never done before. When Sam goes to bed here, she smiles, giggles and says "I'm scared and need to sleep with you." We kiss her and tell her we love her, rub her back and we all laugh. She knows it doesn't work here....From this, I get the sense that she does it with her Mom because it works. And that there really is no need for her to be doing it. But, I understand that it can provide comfort to a child, but if given too much, it doesn't allow the child to hold their own. I want independent, strong kids...not big whiney babies who can't do anything by themselves. Yes, Bill, Marie wants to ask us what she should do, but doesn't really want us to tell her. It's pretty hard to figure things out. And we have been SOOOOOO open about other things...this just really confused me. I have also given my opinions in the past....maybe she is more sensitive to them now that I am marrying her ex. I see your point that I shouldn't have gone there and her reaction to things may be justified. However, I think it is her own issues and sensitivity that causes her to react that way. It's her problem, not mine. In the future, I will make my suggestions in a more sensitive way. D and I have also agreed that when we feel the need to suggest what she should do, we will do it together or have him do it. Just a day before, he approached her on the same topic and handled it in a similar way and she was okay with it. It's just harder for her when it comes from me...because of many different factors, mainly that she is insecure and knows that I am better at a lot of things. She relies on the fact that she is their Mom....that's what helps her...but at the same time, I know she feels inferior. But the next time she asks me what I think.......I'm going to write her back and say, Are you sure you really want to know?

When I hit 70 I hope I am ready to quit pretending..but I am not there yet. I think it also depends on the way you "gray". Mine is not attractive and I really find it bothers me that people do not know I am/was a natural red head. I used to have to deal with a lot of ribbing about it. It is part of my identity. My dearly departed MIL had the most beautiful WHITE hair. I never knew her any other way but her sons sure have fun stories of the few years she fought the battle. If mine were white--not ick gray I might let it go some day but it isn't. I hoped it would go brown but that didn't happen either. I just got back from Sally and have my Gray Magic..the box says 10 drops per oz. Yayagirl said only 4. I will start slow with the four.

I've never been a fan of the "square" cars.It's ok...but really doesn't seem like "you".Does Brian like it? None of my business really...you're the only one that counts in making the decision,just not the car for me....

I don't care for them..... but I haven't really seen anything lately that excites me car wise. CR, I don't like square look either. I've been looking as well because I need to get a new car too.

Toaster on wheels, haven't heard that one, that pretty well describes it for me. I love my Nissan Murano, it gets about 25/26 mpg.

Yes LOL Brian does like it suprising because he is like you CR other then the Tahoe he said he has not seen me driving anything else he said I just fit the Tahoe as it is my second one I do love them but really need to find something better on gas.....he did like my Celica when I had it (we were both married to others at the time but would run into each other in town)...but with Charlie can't have a small car....he likes the new Cameros also but again no Charlie....so CR what do you see me driving? It is funny how cars "fit" people isn't it? Stacy

A small truck maybe....extended cab for room.Tacoma...Ranger...something like that. I don't know,but to me you're a country girl(And that's a GOOD thing). I liked seeing you in the red jeep you (or maybe it was Brians) had but there again,the room. I'd love to someday have a Jeep like that! LOL!

Have you looked at the Chev HHR? My niece bought one recently and it is really nice. Good milage and some good features. I know people are a bit nervous about GM right now, but even if they bankrupt, the brands are bound to be able to be maintained.

Some of the square vehicles look like they threw away the car and kept the box it came in (LOL).

Yes being a country girl is a great thing CR....I haven't really thought about a truck for driving all the time....I know I couldn't drive Brians all the time that sucker is huge..but he needs it for work and the 5th wheel.....
Yes the shag rug on the dash cracked me up...I told Brian they have grass growing on the dash...then I read on there where they said it was "groovy"...hehehehehe....I will keep looking....if I keep it up the tahoe will be paid for and then I will say well I don't want payments so maybe it is a good thing I don't know what I really want...
I loved my Jeep but traded it for the tahoe only because it is NOT a traveling car.....but we would love love to get another one we had soo much fun with that...Stacy

im lol right now, because i was just thinking about my 2nds husbands desire to surprise me with a truck..i love trucks, yep he surprised me alright..with a monster truck..yep it was huge..took 2 milk crates for me even to climb in, i had to carry those crates everywhere with me..had no power steering (yep all that muscle turned to middle age spread lol) and put a car seat in it plus his 2 older kids....oh yeah honey that was one BIG surprise lol me im partial to anyhing nissan and ford..and yes i love the suziki elements for some odd reason. for some odd reason though, thats the only truck ive ever driven that i never did need pillows with to reach the pedals and it was a standard lol. good luck in your search id have a hard time choosing...

Ride it out, Stacy ... once you get that Tahoe paid for you'll be LOVING having all that extra money. If you don't have very long to go, then the money you'd save on gas won't be a drop in the bucket compared to what you'll save by not having a car payment.

Keep watch on the government. There is talk about passing "clunker" legislation. In effect, the government will offer a rebate on the purchase of a new vehicle if the new vehicle gets better fuel mileage than the one being replaced. This rebate is in addition to any offered by the manufacturer. The amount may range from a few hundred dollars to $2500 depending on the difference in fuel mileage. Its an incentive to increase the average fuel mileage of the vehicles on the road.

You currently have a Chevy Tahoe at 14.5 miles per gallon. You expressed an interest in the Nissan Cube. Before you become too enamored of the Nissan Cube, check its engine size and power. I believe its a huge step down from you present vehicle. I am concerned that you will not like its weak acceleration. I know! I know. The Nissan is a lighter vehicle and doesn't need a big an engine, but do this: Check the power to weight ratio, e.g., power divided by weight. Use this number to compare the two vehicles. That will give you a rough comparison for acceleration. Its not the whole story, but its a good starting point.

Look at the Honda CRV-4, the Toyota RAV-4, and the Ford Escape.

No-one has mentioned it, but I have a Buick Enclave and it is a great vehicle...21-25 MPG and huge interior space. Comfortable ride too!

Stac I love love the cube you posted.We too are wanting to get a new car since we gave Ashley my car.I have always said the next car I buy would be a yellow volkswagon.But after sitting in one its way too low for me and having the back trouble I have I do not think I would be happy with it even though I love love them.In 6 months my house pays off and we will be dept free except house hold bills,power,water,so Greg said I deserve a nice car since I have handed over my car over to Ashley.She saids no mom you can have yours back and I will get a new one.To me this is not fair.So greg told her no.So anyways thanks for posting this pic.I love it.For as me I think I would be more comfortable in a car since I have never drove nothing but a car.Some saids I need a SUV type vehicle.I am not sure.But I believe You will love this one you showed.Please keep us posted in what you decide.

I had to replace my Blazer (twice actually) and realized what the most important criteria was: America made, 6 cylinders, tow capacity and 4-wheel drive. I ended up with a used Jeep liberty and pretty much like it. The compass is cute, but I think I need the extra power. Drove a new liberty and thought it was too big.
I just realized the story I am telling is the first one was too small, the second one was too big, and the 2006 liberty was JUST right...

I have a 2008 Honda CRV...LOVE it, great for any hauling I have to do and just right for the dog which is the most important thing! Enough room also for both DGS's and their carseats.

Yes it does have a smaller engine...but that would be fine...as it is very very very rare that I pass anyone.....and the way I drive gun and then slam on breaks is what B calls it....I really don't need the big motor.....
Anyways still looking and will let you all know...I am fixing to call the payment place and see what i owe on the tahoe...I know I called several months ago and it was 10k...I am sure I will just keep my tahoe...LOL but it is fun to build a new one online...Stacy
