Well I am still looking for cars....don't know why....but my Tahoe does have 142,ooo + miles on it and I am thinking I still want to get something smaller....with better gas mileage...I average about 14.5 in mine now..not good...Anyways......today on the msn page they show the Nissan Cube...it is sooo cool....I am going to have to go check it out this week I think....Here is a link to it..I know it won't be as comfortable as my Tahoe but other then when I am driving to where DH is out on the road I don't go much...so I am thinking it would be fine and it has room for the 3 dogs....Stacy

That's cute. It reminds me of the Scion. Have you looked at the Ford Flex. I love that car. It is soooo nice inside.

Larry! Well I'll be! I remember that now. It was a seed and I had no idea what it was then. I actually thought it was a freak of nature, pinched it off and tossed it! That year I did see one humming bird, and never gave it a thought. You should see that same plant now. I kept in in very bright light and kept it small. Now it's about to bloom again. I'll post a recent picture for you:-) Jodik..You are way too kind. Just remember that I do owe some of my success to you, reiterating over and over again about how important it is to use good mixes, and to others. You have some beauties too and I would love to help you grow more orchids. Some actually do very well in cool dry conditions in the winter. Some need cool to induce flowering while others need cold to rest. I am still finding out about these, Cymbidiums being a species which I just ordered. Fragrant as heck too! Thank you for visiting my threads since you know how much it means to me and of that of everyone ele's. It take ALL teh fun out of growing plants if we can not share them with like minded friends here! Purple, I have yet to take a picture, I was so busy this a.m. I was looking at it and thought I should take a pic tomorrow. Planto, thank goodness is right! I accidently left my cat down in teh basement where I have dozens of expensive plants under lights, and thank goodness he did not knock one over after being stuck in there for hours! You guys are too much :-). And I'm shocked at how much a 2 year old's attitude resembles that of a belligerent teen! The refusing to answer when spoken to, the ignoring of direct instructions, the odd eating habits... No wait lists for any of the hotels but I did manage to find a room via Travelocity. The funny thing is that when I specified the town as "Mansfield" the hotel came up as available but changed to unavailable when I tried to book rooms. A call to the hotel itself confirmed that, no available rooms. But when I changed the town to "ashland" (about 20 miles away) the exact same hotel came up as available & allowed me to book rooms. So I did. Printed up my confirmation so I have proof. Now I'm even toying with the idea of flying out & renting a car. What with the cost of gas in my area it wouldn't be all that much more money! But I'm liking the thought of camping more & more & maybe later in the season we can get away for a few days to just camp. bring the little guy & the dog & play wild slumber party in the tent. Both the little guy & the dog would love it. Thankfully we have a big tent! Melanie, I'm beating myself up because I know better. I consciously left this until the last minute. It's a bad, bad habit of mine. I insist that I work better under pressure :-). Yes, Bill, how far west are you heading? And since you're in Maine have you ever done the trip east to Nova Scotia? I cant find any plums on my toka yet but same as you, i looked a bit later and found some. They didnt last on the tree though, I guess some birds got them. This year I cant see any at all, but the the tree had lots of flowers and is grown in well so its a mass of green.

Everybody talks about too much N. Let's discuss too much N. In the gardens, I toss organics, and feed weekly with my own mix (mostly urea) at a rate of 0.25 pounds of N per week per thousand square feet. It's a grand total of well over 2 pounds N per month, or far beyond the recommendation. The pots...succulents, perennials, and bulbs are treated rather gently and with organic feeding. Annuals I feed the absolute heck out of. Miracle-Gro plus organics every two weeks. Plus some other stuff I throw in, like some extra urea. And kelp. The result of "too much" N is a lot of blooms--just on gigantic plants (photo below of a strictly average year, August 10th). The difference here is that I've had the soil tested, balanced the garden soil to a decent pH of 6.3 (with a proper calcium-magnesium-potassium ratio, or, don't use a home test which tells you exactly nothing about the right balance), set the phosphorus levels high and balanced other resources high to compensate for phosphorus antagonism, etc. It's not everybody's cup of tea, and some plants absolutely do object to too much N. But...most don't. And in the past, petunias, lantanas, have all been amongst those in my garden that haven't. Actually, ask me about the three foot tall lantana with the tap root I couldn't get out for two years. Gorgeous. Sturdy. Never repeated.

I've never been a fan of the "square" cars.It's ok...but really doesn't seem like "you".Does Brian like it? None of my business really...you're the only one that counts in making the decision,just not the car for me....

I don't care for them..... but I haven't really seen anything lately that excites me car wise. CR, I don't like square look either. I've been looking as well because I need to get a new car too.

Toaster on wheels, haven't heard that one, that pretty well describes it for me. I love my Nissan Murano, it gets about 25/26 mpg.

Yes LOL Brian does like it suprising because he is like you CR other then the Tahoe he said he has not seen me driving anything else he said I just fit the Tahoe as it is my second one I do love them but really need to find something better on gas.....he did like my Celica when I had it (we were both married to others at the time but would run into each other in town)...but with Charlie can't have a small car....he likes the new Cameros also but again no Charlie....so CR what do you see me driving? It is funny how cars "fit" people isn't it? Stacy

A small truck maybe....extended cab for room.Tacoma...Ranger...something like that. I don't know,but to me you're a country girl(And that's a GOOD thing). I liked seeing you in the red jeep you (or maybe it was Brians) had but there again,the room. I'd love to someday have a Jeep like that! LOL!

Have you looked at the Chev HHR? My niece bought one recently and it is really nice. Good milage and some good features. I know people are a bit nervous about GM right now, but even if they bankrupt, the brands are bound to be able to be maintained.

Some of the square vehicles look like they threw away the car and kept the box it came in (LOL).

Yes being a country girl is a great thing CR....I haven't really thought about a truck for driving all the time....I know I couldn't drive Brians all the time that sucker is huge..but he needs it for work and the 5th wheel.....
Yes the shag rug on the dash cracked me up...I told Brian they have grass growing on the dash...then I read on there where they said it was "groovy"...hehehehehe....I will keep looking....if I keep it up the tahoe will be paid for and then I will say well I don't want payments so maybe it is a good thing I don't know what I really want...
I loved my Jeep but traded it for the tahoe only because it is NOT a traveling car.....but we would love love to get another one we had soo much fun with that...Stacy

im lol right now, because i was just thinking about my 2nds husbands desire to surprise me with a truck..i love trucks, yep he surprised me alright..with a monster truck..yep it was huge..took 2 milk crates for me even to climb in, i had to carry those crates everywhere with me..had no power steering (yep all that muscle turned to middle age spread lol) and put a car seat in it plus his 2 older kids....oh yeah honey that was one BIG surprise lol me im partial to anyhing nissan and ford..and yes i love the suziki elements for some odd reason. for some odd reason though, thats the only truck ive ever driven that i never did need pillows with to reach the pedals and it was a standard lol. good luck in your search id have a hard time choosing...

Ride it out, Stacy ... once you get that Tahoe paid for you'll be LOVING having all that extra money. If you don't have very long to go, then the money you'd save on gas won't be a drop in the bucket compared to what you'll save by not having a car payment.

Keep watch on the government. There is talk about passing "clunker" legislation. In effect, the government will offer a rebate on the purchase of a new vehicle if the new vehicle gets better fuel mileage than the one being replaced. This rebate is in addition to any offered by the manufacturer. The amount may range from a few hundred dollars to $2500 depending on the difference in fuel mileage. Its an incentive to increase the average fuel mileage of the vehicles on the road.

You currently have a Chevy Tahoe at 14.5 miles per gallon. You expressed an interest in the Nissan Cube. Before you become too enamored of the Nissan Cube, check its engine size and power. I believe its a huge step down from you present vehicle. I am concerned that you will not like its weak acceleration. I know! I know. The Nissan is a lighter vehicle and doesn't need a big an engine, but do this: Check the power to weight ratio, e.g., power divided by weight. Use this number to compare the two vehicles. That will give you a rough comparison for acceleration. Its not the whole story, but its a good starting point.

Look at the Honda CRV-4, the Toyota RAV-4, and the Ford Escape.

No-one has mentioned it, but I have a Buick Enclave and it is a great vehicle...21-25 MPG and huge interior space. Comfortable ride too!

Stac I love love the cube you posted.We too are wanting to get a new car since we gave Ashley my car.I have always said the next car I buy would be a yellow volkswagon.But after sitting in one its way too low for me and having the back trouble I have I do not think I would be happy with it even though I love love them.In 6 months my house pays off and we will be dept free except house hold bills,power,water,so Greg said I deserve a nice car since I have handed over my car over to Ashley.She saids no mom you can have yours back and I will get a new one.To me this is not fair.So greg told her no.So anyways thanks for posting this pic.I love it.For as me I think I would be more comfortable in a car since I have never drove nothing but a car.Some saids I need a SUV type vehicle.I am not sure.But I believe You will love this one you showed.Please keep us posted in what you decide.

I had to replace my Blazer (twice actually) and realized what the most important criteria was: America made, 6 cylinders, tow capacity and 4-wheel drive. I ended up with a used Jeep liberty and pretty much like it. The compass is cute, but I think I need the extra power. Drove a new liberty and thought it was too big.
I just realized the story I am telling is the first one was too small, the second one was too big, and the 2006 liberty was JUST right...

I have a 2008 Honda CRV...LOVE it, great for any hauling I have to do and just right for the dog which is the most important thing! Enough room also for both DGS's and their carseats.

Yes it does have a smaller engine...but that would be fine...as it is very very very rare that I pass anyone.....and the way I drive gun and then slam on breaks is what B calls it....I really don't need the big motor.....
Anyways still looking and will let you all know...I am fixing to call the payment place and see what i owe on the tahoe...I know I called several months ago and it was 10k...I am sure I will just keep my tahoe...LOL but it is fun to build a new one online...Stacy
