Furniture Design Dilemma living room

Hey guys! Just moved into a new condo and I can't decide which sofa...

Hello everyone,

I need your help choosing a sectional!

So... I'm going for a neutral vibe here and want to stay more Scandinavian w/ a bit of contemporary. I really can't decide on the sofas below. With the first one, I will buy 'as is' ...but for the second one, I will create an L-shape to frame the living space to the TV. That means I need to purchase one corner, two armless, and then one ottoman to make the right shape. It's a modular sofa.

...I'm trying to decide between these 2-sectionals and I keep going back and forth!

Also, here's kind of the floor space that they will occupy. I tried to use paper towels to show you where the sofas will sit for each type by outlining their footprints.

These views are when you walk into the family room of my condo from the entrance. I want it all to flow nicely while also being inviting and structured at the same time.

Please help. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Also, please excuse my mess! As moving is a lot of work hahaha!

IMO neither but have you actully sat in them. The top one has an actual seat for one person I sure would not want to be a guest sitting on the lounger. The 2nd one the back is really low and I honestly do not know why sectionla re so popular the most uncomfortable seats ever . Only people who get armrests are comfortable all the rest are just like sitting in the middle seat on a sofa that no one ever wants BTW what you are planning allows one person toactually watch TV . A to scale floor plan might help us help you. Both those pieces you show are way too large scaled for your space

I have the same dilemma and am considering the Solae at Article. Due to some negative reviews regarding the Sven sofa, I am shopping around like you are. I'm only commenting because of the previous comment. Buy what you want. Modular furniture with a low back is very popular and I personal want it for unobstructed views. It's a little insulting (or maybe ignorant) for a person to suggest you actually sit in a sofa made by a company that is only online. Also the dimensions of the Solae piece is equal to an average length sofa. I believe 2.5 to 3 people can sit comfortably. I haven't seen negative reviews about seating. Find an open minded consultant.

Sigh... after doing some research on dying/staining white oak, I'm realizing that there are pros and cons to both. It's all very confusing. I'll inquire with my cab maker and see if they are experienced with different techniques for finishing the oak to get the look I want. I can't find any images of rift white oak that has flecks in it, but here's a photo of QS oak that shows what I'm looking for in the finish: It's a midtone, the flecks show through very nicely, the wood's shimmer shines through the stain, and the grain doesn't stand out as sharply as it does in my sample. Here are photos of my sample again, so you don't have to scroll all the way back up: If my cabinet maker can't achieve the look I want, what do you all think of the of the sample door? It will be going on all the doors and drawers of a 16' wall in my galley kitchen. Will it look good applied over a whole wall of cabinets? Or will that heavy grain be too much?

Well, if I were you, I would paint the coffee table the same as the end table and bring in some pillows that have the color of both the sofa and tables. Also you might want to turn your side table the other way...it will work better visually. I prefer the cream also....I hope someone can come up with an idea for the vent...it's driving me batty! Do you close the drapes? If not, a bar cart? Plant? Small console? Let's put our collective brains together.. Now, you said you were doing a new chandelier. Do you have any ideas?

I love the slabs you are looking at. Beth is great at this and has very good taste and knows her color schemes! I too like the tempest with the stone and cabinet choice but it has what you like best. Just because we all think it looks great does not mean you love it. Maybe you do need to look at more. Look at all of Beth's beautiful pictures. You want to be sure and you should LOVE your choice. I just went through this myself and this house we are building will most likely be my last (scary thought) so I understand where you are coming from. Get the stone that you jump at immediately and love. Maybe Beth and AJCN can fly out and come with you :)

I find the first is good for lounging, but may be uncomfortable for a few guests to sit comfortably, so like second better. If second is custom and will be a higher cost, there may be others out there where your configuration is available - if you have not settled on these two specifically. It’s a big investment and decision.

Neither of those sofas are inviting. Lots of bulk for very little guest seating.

Your LR looks to be on the smaller side. If that is the case, consider a sofa with smaller arms (width wise). I took someone's advice for my own sofa and my sofa's arms work out great.
