I would suggest looking for a rug first, then take your colors from that.

Huh, never think of rugs, my cat used to prevent that as an option. But she is no longer with us, so definitely a possibility

I agree that the coffee table is too big. Do you use that sliding door? It's already almost unusable, and that huge table will make it worse.

Is there another possible furniture arrangement?

As for colors, you've already got an awful lot of colors that don't much cohere. A green sofa with an end table in a slightly different green that seems to clash (or is it black?) and a bookcase in what looks to be the same color as the end table. Plus a turquoise lamp.

I'm not quite sure what to do with this room, so let me ponder for a bit. I do think I'd scoot the whole TV console and TV over to the bookcase and then put your little chair in the corner angled toward the sofa.

And then you need to adjust the art over the couch. Hang the three frames in a row about 8" over the back of the sofa, or better yet, get something larger for that wall.

The bookshelf and end table are a darker blue color. The picture frames are old, and are part of the long process of getting new things.

I understand some people don't like the choice of table, but I do. I still would appreciate advice on color for it, but the table is staying.

Don't you find it annoying to walk around a coffee table?

You have a narrow space here. Consider no coffee table- an end table that you can roll over to the center when you need it to eat or use your laptop, will do the trick! Move away from yet another rectangle..............

I might skip the rug in here; it will make the room look smaller. I would also limit the coffee table to a color that you've already used.

I don't love walking around a table, but I live in New York City, and have very limited space. The coffee table also serves as eating space for two, and work space. So ideal layouts aren't park of the package. I have a lot of reasons for the choices.

??? You can easily find an end table on wheesl which will give you the functionality you need.

I had that same table in a small apartment with a similar layout to yours and just adored it, I stained it dark walnut so it sort of disappeared visually so the place didn't look too crowded. We had the TV in the opposite corner (to the right of the sliding glass door) with the sofa on the other side of the room, the table didn't get in the way going in and out of the slider (ours had a balcony where I had plants and did the grilling lol). I'd go with the dark blue of the other table, and see what you can do about rearranging your furniture to make it feel a bit more spacious (or at least not too tiny).

paint it either the dark green or that dark peacock shade of the tall bookcase. It will not take a dark stain based on the type of wood you have. Is there any way you could wall mount the tv and get a shallower media console (one from Ikea that floats would be ideal) and move the yellow piece elsewhere? it would give a bit more room, and break up all those colors in one small spot. could also get a slipcover for that sofa in a color that matches the wall. that way you don't have bright yellow, green blue, teal, and the wood floor all vying for attention.

If it's the same rubberwood/parawood table that I had, it will take a dark stain, sand it down well (not too fine a grit) and wipe very well with denatured alcohol and it'll stain fine. I've done several parawood pieces and have had no trouble staining them after good prep work.
