It's your basic old square oak dining table, likely dating from about 1910 to 1925 or so. That size table was very common ( or should I say "usual") in the farm house auctions I have attended....and I have attended hundreds. That style table is one of the reasons for all the huge linen old tablecloths out there. I would seriously doubt that is in handmade, none others that I have seen were. It's from that "golden oak" era. Some of those olds quare farmhouse tables had 5 legs, some had the split pedestal as yours does. Having the original finish won't seriously enhance the value....so I would strip it and bring it back into daily use. I have one similar that I had cut down into a coffee table....I know!!! But it pleases me more than any new coffee table I have ever seen. It's a great old table, enjoy it Linda C

Probably have to get it built for you. Not much demand for 54" square tables as the project far into the room on the corners and folks can't pass food across the table without coming out of their chair. A seating position is typically 24" minimum, so that means legs far outboard or a center pedestal to seat 8.

"American Impressions" table bears model number 24-6414; "New Country" table, model number 33-6404. Model number is stenciled on underside of table. Hazard exists because table may be missing some of the eight small wooden blocks that are supposed to be located on its underside to add stability. Ethan Allen has received 33 reports of incidents in which tables may have collapsed as a result of missing blocks. No injuries have been reported. It sounds like it would work. At least I think 18" is enough space for one to sit while all four legs are on the rug. I would even think in most cases one would be able to get in and out of the chair without having to move it off the rug. I've never put a dining table on a rug because of this dilemma. I Googled "60" round table on *' round rug" and found the link below where someone asked a similar question and another shared a photo of their 54" dining table and chairs set on an 8' round rug.
