Help! Stuck! Need ideas for Landscape Design
Comments (9)I see absolutely no reason to remove the wall. It may not have a specific purpose but it does provide a point of interest (even a focal point) and adds some character. I would consider removing some of the foundation shrubs. They are planted too closely (requiring frequent pruning to keep in size) and they look a bit regimented and soldier-like, marching across the front of the house. There is no reason for the two sides to match. That is a more appropriate approach if the house was symmetrical but it's not and attempting to have symmetrical plantings on either side will throw off the balance and make it look forced rather than natural. You do need color and in front of the wall is ideal space. You could plant with annuals or any suitably sized perennials. I'm not sure how low they have to be, as you have some room for height there.....just keep whatever you pick lower than the wall....See MoreLiving Room/Dining Room Design ideas
Comments (2)Hello Hillari Lube , You have a lot going on in a tiny space! AND you say the word, 'wonky,' like I do - you from New York by any chance? Anyway - the big piece that neither of us seem thrilled with - would that fit rotated to the wall immediately to it's right? It would make it less of a focal point and with a nice desk, small shelf and a painting above where it is now - you have a much more functional space & hopefully something that takes the eye away from the big piece... From there it seems console table or small bookcase the L side of the couch would set up something that defines a small circular table for a dining area. Hope that helps. We give every project a free 15 min. strategy session. Hit us up! Thanks, -frank...See MoreNeed design ideas for living/dining room
Comments (3)Move in. Live in the space and see how it works. The house will tell you what it wants. In the meantime, start an ideabook for every room. By the time you're ready to start designing, you'll have a clear idea of your style. Then come back with photos of the house as it actually is with whatever furniture you already have, and we can help. Right now we don't have near enough information to make any suggestions. Don't be in a huge hurry to rush out and buy stuff. That's how expensive mistakes get made. Have a plan before you buy a single thing. Otherwise you'll be stuck with the too-large purple couch you fell in love with and won't be able to make it work....See MoreWall decor in entrance, living and dining room. Confused and stuck!
Comments (25)Mini-this is concept and I tried to estimate dimensions but those need to be verified of course. I took the tufted sofa and turned it and moved it into living room space. I took your lucite entry table and used it as a sofa table behind the tufted sofa. This allows a spot for a lamp for needed additional layer of lighting. Then I put the antique settee with it’s back to lucite sofa table. I swapped the two coffee tables and this helps harmonize the look of modern and traditional. Plus the sizing looks like it would work better too. The two accent chairs create rest of seating area. The long wall would get the art gallery wall or a new large piece of art. I also added a large shade floor lamp to this area to create interest and sone height in the grouping. I put a green plant, possibly a Fiddle Fig in right corner for some greenery. Once we settle on furniture locations, then we can tackle art, lamps, rugs and accessories. A zebra rug under the lucite coffee table would draw the eye to this grouping and create interest with irregular shape. And inject some fun. You could use another floor lamp in area to left of window on the main living room. This would add height and ambient lighting at night. Thoughts?...See Morefreedomplace1
