My first thought especially with the second option is how these are going to be cleaned and at what rate they will fill with debris. A modern light isn't going to necessarily blend with the two lower ones you already have. I think the first option is more congruent with the lights you'll be keeping. There are so many lighting companies out there with all different types of designs. Hinkley is one that comes to mind right off, but if you're not happy with these, keep looking because the options are virtually endless.

I would get a plain light for on the columns that projects light up and down to highlight the architecture. I pulled a stainless one but white would work well here too as it would blend in during the day. The pendant can be anything but I question your current choices- they look like maintenance nightmares.

I agree now that the scroll pendant option might be a hassle to clean, but with the second pendant light option...the glass shades are actually covered or slightly dome shaped with the glass covering. I like HALLETT & Co.’s suggestion for the sconces as I am not keeping the existing sconces either. Thanks for your responses.

Get a light with long enough rod to see above front door not hide up there. I wouldn’t get chain is it windy where you are?

It’s not usually windy here in South Georgia. Part of the problem is finding a pendant that will be wide enough to be seen behind that 12” wide vertical beam. I figure to be seen it should be at least 24” wide or so.

OH boy! Step away from the scroll_ee light fixtures they have nothing "modern about them.

The fixture is not "hiding" not only can I see it from the picture you posted but I can also see it in the reflection of the glass.

So instead of trying to go huge, (which is also not modern or fitting to the awesome entry you have here). Go for impact and style.

The light on the beam would look great as an up/down, simply pair the finish with the one you choose for the hanging fixture. But instead of round to square or rectangle.

For the hanging pendant, if you do something with a frosted glass it will stand off the dark background and become more visible.

You will definitely need something wider to stand out behind the beam. Pendants are made to be centerpieces not just tucked behind a wall. Here is a wider option we enjoy!

Stay away from anything lantern shaped or scrolly - too traditional for your cool house! Also stay away from anything that looks like a chandelier! Because your house is very linear with straight lines, I think a large globe pendant would look great. The key is scale. You have a large space so the light should be LARGE. Also a classic Star light would look great. Whatever pendant you decide on, choose the column lights from the same family. Note that the column lights should blend in and not stand out, let the LARGE pendant be the star of the show. One more thing, it looks like you have lion door knockers on your double doors. I would replace them with something more in keeping with the style of your house. Something contemporary and cool. The lions are just too traditional.

A lot of great ideas here! So far I have decided to cut the scroll pendant...I was thinking too traditional as well. Brown Dog posted a few pendants I like, any ideas who makes these? I also liked the ideas of RL Relocation LLC.
