If you have screw in recessed can fixtures and want to visualize the mini pendants without doing the can tearout first--you can pick up a couple of recessed can/mini pendant light conversion kits--Lowes carries a couple (nickel Model #: MPA-1PNK or antique bronze [Model #: MPA-1JBZ]) with no bulb or shade that screws into the existing edison socket, has a decorative base that covers the recessed can. You can play with different light shades as well. We did this for our remodel, and never bothered to do the formal can tearout. I think there may be other conversion kits at Lowes, but the cover and the shade did not match our kitchen. Hope this helps.

Hi Amy ~ I have just been going through the same thing - I found the perfect pendent light today at Lamps Plus in the Sacramento, CA area. The product I purchased was from the Minka Lavery line - http://minkalavery.com/ The quality of these product is very nice. This is the specific light I purchased: http://www.lampsplus.com/Products/88021/ You can't tell by the picture, but the lights provide a wonderful soft iridescent glow when turned on. If the first picture is of the pendant you like, I would say it's on the boring side. I think you could find something better and are missing an opportunity to make the kitchen really look special. If you are going to do something that plain, then you really need to step it up for the dining room chandelier and get something that is much more visually interesting. My advice would be to start with picking a metal(s) so that you understand what you're trying to coordinate, and then go from there.

@RL Relocation LLC thank you. There is a fixture already installed above the sink to provide the entire kitchen with lighting. No bulb installed yet though. Wiring for the lighting above the peninsula is easy. The wires currently run in a layer between the exposed rafters and the external roofing. Hence a source for each pendant light drops down either from the rafter or drilled through the beam I am only looking for suggestions of pendant lights for above the peninsula that will fit the design of the kitchen
