Lighting Design Dilemma Kitchens

Help me pick Pendant Lights for my Kitchen!

I would like a glam or modern look to my kitchen. I believe the right pendants lights should help with this. But I can’t decide whether they should be globes, chandelier style, cylindrical or whether they should have chains or down rods. Please share your suggestions. Doors to be installed soon.

Slopped ceilings typically do not affect the choice these days as most that have a rod also has a sloped ceiling adapter. My question and more important one is where and how will they be powering these? Usually with exposed beams there isnt a whole lot of room to run electrically. And yes it is a very valid point to ask what about the rest of the lighting as that does affect what type of light you get for the island. Because some glam lights may not give you any functional lighting.

From this photo, I don't see any type of current lighting in the kitchen. Before you think about pendents, you need a whole kitchen lighting plan so the room is functional.

Whoa....really different styles. I agree with blfenton that if your kitchen is contemporary, #2. But I LOVE schoolhouse styles...I think they're a graceful classic shape and would definitely opt for the Hudson Valley light if your kitchen is either traditional or transitional. Thanks for your input everyone. I ordered the Darien pendants but am second guessing my choice. My kitchen is more traditional, and although I love the Darien, it may not be the right choice for my kitchen. Part of what drew me to pick the Darien was the larger size (8" vs 5 3/4") and that it comes with a stem kit. The Boston pendants are 44.5" long unless you custom order them for an additional $88 each. At 44.5" long, they would be 37.5" off our countertops, which are 38" tall. My husband and I are both 6' tall, and it think I would want the pendants to be a little higher up, probably around 40", to feel like they aren't in my face but I don't know for sure. Our ceilings are 10' high. How high off the counters would you have the pendants in our case? I also am trying to pick a fixture for over the breakfast table but am not finding anything I love. Here are two fixtures I am considering. What are your thoughts on how these would work with either pendant? Any suggestions of something different to look at?

To your question about the pendants in relation to hanging from the track, Yes you can order any line voltage pendant, preferably on cord or chain, the rods make it a bit more challenging as to the adapter. They make about 3 kinds of adapters for track pendants depending on what you need. As to placement, because you have track it actually allows you to move them to whatever area you would like them to be in. Hi @ calidesign, there is no light fixture because I am trying to decide what lights to install. The electricals have already been installed in the roof above the pennisula. It is a sloped ceiling, so this affects the choice of fixtures also.

Lights above the peninsula would be fine, but you also need lighting in other areas of the kitchen. You need to figure that out first before you choose the decorative pendent lights. I would have a lighting pro come to your house to see what can be done. At a minimum, you need good lighting over the sink, maybe by putting downlights into the bottom of that cabinet, or using fixtures that extend over it.

@RL Relocation LLC thank you. There is a fixture already installed above the sink to provide the entire kitchen with lighting. No bulb installed yet though.

Wiring for the lighting above the peninsula is easy. The wires currently run in a layer between the exposed rafters and the external roofing. Hence a source for each pendant light drops down either from the rafter or drilled through the beam

I am only looking for suggestions of pendant lights for above the peninsula that will fit the design of the kitchen
