Combining a Small Master Bedroom with an Ajoining Small Bedroom?
Comments (6)I did just what you describe and I'm tickled pink with it. In my case it WAS a load-bearing wall, but that just meant I had to header off the opening. I created about a four-foot archway between the two sections of the (now one)room - making one section the bed area and one the sitting/dressing area. I can't tell you what it costs since I did it myself, but I really don't think it would be that bad, depending on what needs to be done. I had to move a electrical box and add another (to stay up to code) but it was mostly a framing/drywall job. I would say the most important thing is visualizing the feel/scale of the new room as well as new traffic patterns and usage patterns to come up with a good design. In may case I created a couple of new walk-in closets to keep the scale of the resulting room comfortable. I know I've been in several "de-partition" rooms that feel just like that - two rooms with a wall knocked down....See MorePlease help with small bedroom design!
Comments (12)holly, look at the 3rd pic I posted w/the gray duvet, to keep it from looking too dreary, bring in a large white rug, some natural wood items, maybe the ikea white vanity (it's shallow) and lots of plants. look into a tapestry gray/white duvet cover and then do the solid gray curtain. ikea vanity (or the one jansgirl posted) , wood accents, and maybe some gold, like that lamp jansgirl posted. gray drapes like these and notice the natural wood elements. dark gray throw, gray velvet pillow shams, fluffy white rug,,etc....See MoreSmall bedroom design ideas
Comments (1)I would to add that the window next to my bed is overlooking my neighbor’s laundry room and powder room. 🤔😳 so maybe curtain sheer in morning, black out curtain at night?...See Moredesign help small master bedroom
Comments (28)Artwork should be about 2/3 width of bed; queen bed is 60 inches so go for something around 40 inches wide? Can be one or two pictures, but one big pic is generally easier to hang etc. Target, Ross, World Market, TJ Maxx all have nice big art that might work....just look for cream not ultra white in the art; and if it makes your hear sing, go for it......any type would probably work in the room....the corners will get taken are of. Get the bed and nightstands in place and curtains hung, (check out Houzz.com or youtube to see how and where to hang curtains before you go shopping so you have an idea of what is what) This room has oil rubbed bronze curtains with long curtains, check for your room, large print over the bed, check, lamps are taller than headboard, which is a look you want, check and you could do lamps in your chosen accent color, cream, silver, brass. first and see if you like it; one decision generally means you might have two options or none for the next decision....the curtains will frame the room and soften the window angles and if the curtain color is similar to headboard it will give the room a more cohesive look; you want items to look like they go together....even when not a perfect match; avoid perfect match, rather blend is better I think. Here is another room.....large dark curtain rod, curtains hung behind bed and nightstand as an example. Quirky corner decor and corner windows with interesting curtain placement......lamps same height as headboard counting finials! Nicely made bed that relates to wall color; an idea you might consider if you cannot find curtains to match head board....a lot of cool ideas in room you might want to consider.....love the tiny chair in front of the plant stand..... PS I went to more info for this picture and it seemed that the client had the sheets already and matched/blended the paint color to the sheets.....so another custom look for little investment.....fun room with quirky corner! Good luck....See MoreRelated Professionals
