Add an accent color in 3 places in the room; it is so easy to just keep
Matching things....so find an accent color you like in the room, as in flowers, art, lamps, lamp shades, pillows, accent chair and put in the room in 3 items. It makes it fun!

It will fit in that design..... the dresser is a modern design but the wood color will work nice to give the organic element and warmth in the room...it also works well in modern farmhouse.....you are a bit eclectic but I will help you pull it all together..no worries👍🏻😉☺️

Making a slipcover for your headboard it is so easy than you can make it flat no buttons....and just adding a platform.. just a platform in wood...

Ok my nightstand came in and I didn’t realize how wide it is. 😬. I like them but wish they were not so wide.
I put the lamp on it just to see how it looks. I know wall lights were discussed but i kinda like it on the nightstand. I’m not sure i want a flat headboard anymore either. I’m thinking of keeping mine now because it goes with the lamp and nightstand.

If you remove your dresser..you could just have the two big nightstands...I was thinking you where keeping the small grey and gold side table and adding the wood dresser...you can’t fit a big dresser and big nightstand...

I returned the little gold nightstand. I didn’t love it. So i got this brown end table instead on Joss and main. My plan is to get the matching dresser too but i just wanted to see if i liked the end tables style and color first. The dresser is 59 inches long. It was One of the smaller dressers i found.
I decided not to get the pier 1 one after you said they aren’t doing well. I’m glad i listened to that bc the next day they announced they will be closing all stores.

So my post with the big lamp on the end table was me asking if the lamp goes with the end table. I love the lamp and want them to be the first thing you see when u walk in the room.

I put the lamp on there just for show and i think i like them there now 😫😫😬

Corky..take a deep breath...honestly I have been doing design for 30 years...you need to trust the process..and each element is important to the next...I was worried about the joss & Main dresser it looked too dark...I tried to tell you without being to pushy...are you willing to start over and send the nightstand back..did you order two?

Take a few minutes to look at bedroom images on Houzz photos that you love..find one and we can work together to create the look..but you have to realize the size of your bedroom will be important to consider...

Corky I really like the dresser you bought. But if it doesn't go with the overall plan then it won't work. As a stand alone item though I do like it. I also get what you mean about the lamp and quite like it too. I'm obviously not a designer but the little night stand looked little and not substantial to me. It was very pretty but I see why you didn't love it. I think everything that HIWE put together looks great as a whole. But you have to love it too in its entirety. If the night stand wasn't ideal then there might be others that wow you more?

Hi Corky,...I follow Julie on Houzz and from my own experiences she is awesome! She has helped me with a few rooms and they are beautiful thanks to her. Please take her advice she knows what she’s doing. Sometimes it’s hard to visualize for me anyway a piece at a time but it will come together. Good Luck😊

Corky, I think you're just wanting to get this finished and you're rushing yourself a bit. I really think you need to take HIWE's suggestion and get two larger nightstands with drawers to take the place of a dresser. Then, if you still need a dresser, consider going a bit taller than wider. Something like this is only 32" wide and would be easier to maneuver around.

Not a pro, but I agree with Julie too. If your room entrance is by the wall that currently has the dresser, I'd get rid of it and switch to wider bedside chests. That way when you walk it, you see the bed centered on the wall flanked by 2 chests. Either lamps on chest with a nice piece of art over bed or or plug in sconces above your headboard and then some art over the chest that isn't under the window. It would be so pretty to walk into your room and see either vignette. I also think you'd have the same amount of drawer space.

I agree with Julie too. She has been helping me tremendously and it so patient. I’d stop responding to me if i were her bc i am super annoying and indecisive. I’m grateful for her.
I know the two chest option is the best, but not necessarily practical for me (if that makes sense). I hate clutter and donate things all the time, but storage is never enough for us. We live in a tiny 1000 square foot house with limited storage. The dresser doesn’t have all clothes in it. My side of the dresser has things you wouldn’t normally find in dresser. We got custom closets made last year which fit our clothes for the most part. Since storage is rough, i am trying to find a smaller dresser to which is not easy either. I am also looking for small night stands and still stay within my theme. Also the wall with the dresser is in bad shape. It’s old and not smooth. Looks like it was repaired a million times and u can see the patches were it was repaired. I hate it.
So to make the best out of this situ, i think i need that small dresser. 😐😫

Corky coukd you give me the measurements from under that window sill to floor..if you do big chests they need to fit under that area...just in case We all talk you into two side chests.😉

Space and storage is hard. I've lived in less than 1300sq ft with 4 people (2 kids worth of stuff included) for the last 15 years. You have to be strategic with storage. Splurge on a hydraulic storage bed (C&B or West Elm) or get a regular bed that is a high platform and make use of nice storage containers underneath (a nice tailored bedskirt can hide a lot). The typical storage beds have drawers that are shallow and do not hold that much actually.

I'm guessing that if you have custom closets, that you own and don't rent? Invest in the right pieces and it's worth it in the long run.

Yes we have two little kids too. It’s not easy with the storage.

My bed skirt is hideous. Julie was trying to help me find a panel bed with storage. :) that’s next on my list.
So the dresser below: yes or no? (Not crazy about the hardware, but i like the gray wash color).

Please just take a day to really think about getting two chests 3 drawers each same as a dresser ...I will check in tomorrow

I am with @Home Interiors with Ease on this. Two chests in the room would make better sense.

Measure out the dresser and how much storage it will give you.......and then Take the time to measure two Chests and see the space it provides for your storage.

I may be wrong here, because I am not sure of your measurements, but You say you want storage under the bed, how will you use it if there is a dresser in the way.

Maybe someone can come and do a mock up for you, so you can see the two chests placed in the room.

I agree that two chests as nightstands could provide more storage. We replaced a 5 drawer dresser with two chests as nightstands and ended up with lots of extra drawer space. I’ve attached an old photo as I don’t have a current one I can take at the moment.

Thank you all for your ideas and support. Especially you, Julie. I cannot thank you enough for your ideas and PATIENCE with me. The back and forth has been going on for weeks and u have always been genuinely eager to help me. I thought about the chests and everyone’s right, it’s the best option for my small room. I’m big on symmetry too, so that’s the best option with that as well. Everything will be centered which makes me happy.
With that being said, i want to check out Home Goods, Ashley, and a few other furniture stores so I can see the chests in person. However, nothing is open on Long island where i live, and we aren’t even in phase one yet 😢. I’ve been quarantined for weeks with two little kids, driving myself insane with my room. I have also been driving Julie insane too I’m sure which I feel bad about. So i am going to give my room a break for now until I can see some three drawer chests in person. Julie, we spoke about this before and i scrolled up to see the old comments. I will need two chests 32 inches or less...so now I will know what to look for. I want my furniture to be light or a gray wash. Once I find one, of course I will consult with Julie and the rest of my houzz buds. Thank you so much for everything this far!!!!😉

I think you're going to be so much happier. I have a guest room that's JUST too small for a dresser, and I'm going to be using 3 drawer chests in there as well so folks can have a spot to unpack a suitcase. I contemplated putting a small dresser in the closet, but the small chests just make so much more sense.
