Stainless/Satin Nickel pulls on Honey Oak?
Comments (21)Okay, I'm back! I ordered a sample order from an online site, which let me pick 3. I picked 3 different finishes, and 3 different styles to get several ideas. I am not a photoshop guru, so only put them on and took pictures... First, what I have in its decaying state: From kitchen cabinet hardware Next, I originally thought I'd do stainless/satin. And, here is a "knob" that I like in stainless. What do you think? From kitchen cabinet hardware From kitchen cabinet hardware Here is a pull that I like in "black iron". I like the color, but would probably also like it in stainless. It is a companion pull to the knob above so I can get either in either color. From kitchen cabinet hardware From kitchen cabinet hardware Here is one DH liked--it is heavier. This is black nickel (I think). I am not sure I am digging the shiny... It would also come in satin nickel. From kitchen cabinet hardware What do you think? Am I any closer? I think I like the stainless knobs, but not sure how it would look on my cabinets (in pulls) without replacing all my hinges... They are weathered also, so appear very dark. But, maybe the hinges wouldn't be that noticable? If I did the stainless pulls, it would probably be the first pull above (in "black iron") Also, we tried some ORB, and I liked them, but DH wasn't thrilled with them...some of them had some "pink" on them....See MoreSatin nickel faucet with polished nickel hardware?
Comments (4)bumping this up. Anyone out there who's actually done what I'm proposing? My California migrated lighting designer-who's helped me immensely on many kitchen design issues, is a bit more of a purist on finishes. My notes of our early discussion show he suggested hardware in satin or stainless steel for their sheen but not brushed nickel which is more matte. Antique nickel, brass, antique (aged) bronze etc was also high, polished nickel not so much. Also, I recently saw a "what's new in 2013 kitchens" and it said popular hardware are satin, orb, some brass, but not seeing as much polished. If you know of a "bright" satin cabinet hardware maker, please do share. A lot might depend on the base metal in the collection. :/ Thanks again....See MoreFor those living w polished (nickel or chrome) hardware
Comments (40)I have lived in the same house for 39 years and have done three remodels. There is no doubt in my mind that chrome is the way to go. I have one set of fixtures which have been here for 25 years and they are beautiful. As for Rohl, plumbing supply people say there is no better and I put in one set in my main bathroom (I have six) and love it but don't use glass cleaner on it. Supply stores have a specific product and you don't even need that if you just quickly wipe up after using, one swipe with a microfiber cloth I keep under the sink. I am not a fanatic, it takes ten seconds and it doesn't matter if you miss a couple of times but you will never be sorry. However, now companies like California Faucets and Newport Brass make the Rohl classic styles in polished chrome and the price is about 40% less and you have both beauty and excellent function. In the long run, after I have obsessed over the exact choices every time, I like everything I have now because they are good, fairly expensive but not Rohl top of the like (or Watermark) and polished chrome and they last....See MoreFinger pulls vs knobs vs bar pulls, mixing weathered and satin nickel
Comments (2)Hello Lisa MacDonald, i don't think the Weathered Nickel would look bad. I like the leaf design on the front it looks very similar to Century Hardware'sHamilton collection. I think that maybe you should pair a mushroom knob with that cup pull. Adding more pictures would probably help everyone get a better idea of the space and what you are trying to do in your kitchen. Best wishes!...See MoreBeth H. :
