Exterior Makeover Help and Brick Cleaning
Comments (0)Looking to paint our home and really looking for some guidance on color selection. Walls, trim, front door, garage doors, etc. We will be getting new rain gutters and garage doors as well once the paint is done. So color for those as well. Very interested to hear suggestions on what you would do if it were your home. We are open to all suggestions on anything you see. The house also has used/reclaimed brick across the front and around the sides/back. It has hard water stains which has turned it to a grayish color. Really need to get it back to the natural look. Any suggestions? We haven't painted a home before, so any suggestions on what to ask or look for in a painter as well. What I've been told: house is stucco, supposedly never been painted or messed with (home is 30 years old) coming from previous owner and neighbors who have been here. I've also been told that u don't paint stucco, then others say you can. I saw a new post here regarding that same topic, so I'll keep an eye on that. Any and all suggestions are helpful. Will be doing landscape as well and looking for suggestions on yard, trees, plants, planters (keep or remove), etc., once we get paint situated... basically doing an exterior make over. Looking forward to your suggestions!...See Moreexterior makeover ....need help!

Comments (8)I like your ideas. I think a medium charcoal gray or weathered wood roof would look nice. I wonder if you could set the addition back about two feet with a square bump out in the middle. The roof line could be lower than the main house. Inside, it could be a vaulted ceiling. Clad it in clapboards or flat panels with trim; see the section next to the garage below. This is an example of the setback and the center bay, although not the same style as you house. Of course no Gambrel roof....See MoreTudor Exterior Paint Makeover Help Please
Comments (18)@tozmo1 agree with you on the all solid color, which is why we were thinking siding. We've seen tudor half timbers painted same color as the stucco but haven't seen it executed well. We have the late 80's textured stucco, and everywhere we've read says it will be impossible to remove the timbers and patch without being able to spot it as a patch a mile away. At that point we're looking at removing all of the stucco and simply starting over. We're hoping to be able to save on costs by being able to go right over the existing stucco facade....See Morekatinparadise
