Floof: How many masks do you have?
Comments (42)I made 4 double layer nuzzles with a filter pocket. They are a PIA. They fog up my glasses, hot, reduce breathing and muffled talking. So I made 2 out of a pkg of reusable wipes I had hanging around. Single layer, light, breathable and cooler. I probably will have to make two more cause sometimes I'm out several times a week. Unless visibly dirty I just rotate them....See MoreFace Masks........
Comments (149)Thaks, Judi, yes sarcasm. If masks weren’t effective, medical folks wouldn’t wear them. I never see cloth masks anymore. All appear to be k95.. I just saw in our local paper that covid cases doubled here the last week in July. Which is a bit odd beccause the weather was idyllic and nearly every event and gathering has been outside. The local health department is again recommending masks....See More3-ply pleated masks?
Comments (46)The best 3-ply face masks that I have found are made by Echo New York. Fabric is smooth and soft and they have great designs. I wish I had not spent money on other fabric masks. Our stylish printed masks are washable and reusable. With a pocket carefully engineered to secure a PM 2.5 filter and avoid awkward gaps, and a 98% score on the Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE) test (FDA recommends 95% or higher for non-medical masks) you can cover up elegantly and comfortably. These masks are not intended for medical use; let's work together to keep the PPE for those who need it. 3 layers of 100% cotton fabric Machine washable Internal pocket for added filter (fits PM 2.5 filters) Moldable nose bar, adjustable ear straps, and fabric pleating makes for a customized, comfortable fit One size fits most 98% on BFE test Care Instructions: Machine wash cold separately, gently cycle Only non-chlorine bleach when needed Reshape, Lay Flat to Dry Cool iron when needed https://echonewyork.com/collections/masks...See MoreDisinfecting disposable masks?
Comments (22)@carolb_w_fl_coastal_9/10, that is a real concern expressed by healthcare workers. Spraying with liquid just increases the amount of moisture to mask is exposed to. This research shows 10 mild coughs decreases efficiency by ~8%. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7301882/ "Mask efficiency is dynamic (not constant). It is reduced during cough cycles. The fluid dynamics and the interactions between the droplets, the filter, and the face influence mask efficiency. We show that after ten mild cough cycles, efficiency can drop ∼8%. The above is a conservative prediction considering that we model a mild cough incident and ten cough cycles. We should expect more significant efficiency reduction for severe coughing events, as well as when wearing a mask for a longer period."...See More- 6 years ago
