A Day in the Life of Your Data
Comments (17)"Things sure are different in the US!" I'm glad to read this comment. Of course things are different, it's a different country with different traditions, different values, different perspectives and differently cultural practices. The setting is different too. I think you've said you live in Victoria - the population of the metro area I live in exceeds the population of all of Victoria and my area is not the major population center of my state, whose population exceeds that of Australia. I'm not suggesting bigger is better, not at all, but the scale of the population (and governing traditions, much more heavy handed and imposing in Australia compared to the US) dictate different possibilities for how issues are addressed. Much of what has been happening in Australia over the past year plus would not go over very well here. The Aussies I'm in regular contact with are tired of what they consider to be unnecessary and unneeded restrictions, especially as regards international travel. Even European countries, with governmental traditions more similar to Australia's than American ones are, haven't taken such extreme measure. I'm not suggesting there's a right or wrong, or better or worse, it's just the reality that things are different from one place to another and usually for good reasons....See MoreFloof! Comments (31)5/10 Tons of ups and down. I had Covid which finally showed up on a rapid test April Fools Day. It was not funny. At. All.... I was sick for 12 days at home until it finally came back negative, then took more probably 3 more weeks to feel back to normal once I went back to work. I was constantly out of breath doing the smallest jobs. I still have some brain fog. We went to BC to see my parents and sister, and also my nephew got married (again) in Harrison Hot Springs. So that was wonderful. My son and his little boy drove out with us and the four of us had such a good time driving all over the lower mainland. I ended up with bronchitis in October/November that was worse than the Covid! Nothing I took helped relieve the symptoms. With Covid Dayquil and Tylenol were my best friends. Didn't touch the bronchitis. I was sick for over three weeks and only took 3 days off work. I've masked ever since. Christmas was really nice. My kids always come over and this year my youngest son has a new girlfriend who has a 4 year old and they came for the day too. It's New Years Eve now and not sure who all is coming over for the Dutch Oliebollen tradition. My daughter for sure with her boyfriend. I'm making tons so if there are leftovers, YAY me! LOL...See MoreFloof! Education..
Comments (37)Education needs to be varied because it is impossible to predict what you are going to need as the years go by. Learning how to learn is the most important thing anyone will ever learn. An organized approach that builds on basics that you have to lay down though it be dull as ditch water is just part of getting educated. It is work. It is a child's job. I know it is not popular to speak of education as work vs fun and exciting or what ever and often hard and dull work at that. If you dont learn to multiply you wont learn algebra which is a language helpful for future ventures in math should you need to go there. Our university system which is broad based give you the option of changing your mind about what you always wanted to do with your life. Life is a long time. The British system is very focused to your chosen field. That can be good or bad. I did object to having to waste time on PE classes in college and having too many introductory classes but that was a function of where I went. You can hopefully choose to go elsewhere that meets your needs better. I am astonished you had to take calculus and Latin in high school. Calculus came after Trig and Latin was dying out in high schools and I know I am considerably older than you. I was not allowed to take drafting but a friend and I managed to make them let us take mechanical drawing. The teacher simply ignored us. We were taught nothing in the class and had to manage on our own....See MoreFloof! Leaving Reviews.
Comments (20)I do, sometimes. I usually will for my veterinarian and for my GP. I'm always asked to leave reviews for Loft and I usually do those. I was once extremely unhappy with the service I received from my order from The Gap.. It was a long comedy of errors. They felt so badly they sent me a gift card. I once bought chocolate in an upscale gourmet shop. The store was new in the mall. The same person who used gloves to touch chocolates went behind the counter to complete the transaction! Yikes. I spoke to the manager the next day. She was concerned and tried to assure me that the staff was trained. Ah, no! She offered to comp candy next I stopped in. I said no thank you. My concern was that this was a new business and I didn’t want to see yet business fail and leave the mall. I find the complaints more useful when reading reviews....See MoreTexas_Gem
