Not happy with my foyer - can you help please?
Comments (67)I think the chair looks a little bulky for the space. Or posting a picture from another angle. Would you consider replacing it with a wooden leg with wood arms type of chair. I can not think of what the style is called. Usually the seat and a round section in the back are upolstered....might be called a french arm chair. It would take up much less room. I skimmed over most of the posts, so I am sorry if I missed something. I know you werent opposed to reupolstering the chair, sometimes it costs more to do that than finding a good deal on a chair at a store like Home Goods, or SteinMart, etc....See MoreShow Us Your Foyers
Comments (28)jamies when we bought the house, there were 2 closets, one where the mirrored cabinet is and one where the print is so it was a VERY narrow entry! Each closet had 2 paneled doors (no glass) with Cremone bolts (the floor strikes are still in place) but the closets were too shallow for a hanger unless it was angled. At one time there must have been the same kinds of doors opposite the entry door because there were floor strikes there also, but those doors were gone before we bought the house....See MorePlease help me finish up this foyer?
Comments (83)Thank you @everdebz. This photo is more my style but it is way too big and quite expensive. This dark one is 62" x 48" x 18" The 48" is too wide. Perfect size is around 50" x 40" or even a 40" x 40". It is a bit dark but I go for more matte. This is the Century FurnitureGrand Oak Coffee Table. My sofa is 80" long. so way too big. I do have plenty of room though. I have seen it in person. You could practically sleep on it. I posted another I liked further up in the post . I am looking for something that does not have the look of new but not farmhouse. It would be cool to find an old dining room table and cut it down to a coffee table but that has not happened so I keep looking. I like the white one as well but it is only 30 inches wide. I am good with the style of the Century one but it is really dark so maybe the white or light paint color is best. I think I can get this table in a 40" x 40" in any color. There is a lot of space between the 2 sofas....See MoreFoyer hall furniture placement
Comments (7)If I were starting from scratch I would replace the upholstered benches with a small upholstered wing chair and a small round table, and maybe add a bentwood bistro chair, but probably not. (I can imagine people sitting there, temporarily, as part of people coming and going from the house, waiting for others.) As is, I would remove the many pillows and simply leave one of the most decorative pillows on each bench. I would take away the floral arrangement in favor of some thing lower. If all that is too bare for you, maybe find the perfect narrow wall clock, or small mirror, or plate or decorative object above the table between the windows. I think your console table is fine but the objects on it are nerve-wracking for an entryway. (Do rambunctious over-excited children ever arrive at your house?). It all looks like it could easily get knocked over even by an adults carrying packages. I would definitely remove the glass apothecary jars, nice as they are. I think if eventually you put a chair to replace one of the benches, you’ll be surprised at how much use it gets, sitting by the window waiting for a delivery or a ride to show up, waiting downstairs for someone else to finish dressing to go out. So do what’s practical as well....See MoreDonna T
