Upgrading a Laundry Room/Bathroom Combination
Comments (12)Sorry, had to work yesterday. My first thought is to do an island in the center. At 11.5 wide, it is too small to divide usefully I think. However, I’m going to play with it today. Also, if you are ok moving the utility sink out to that space in the garage I’m assuming you’ll have to add plumbing. If so, I would put the dog wash out there. Dogs shake off water during and after a bath, which ends up everywhere. Do you ever use the current utility sink to hand wash clothes or do you not need that option? In my new house I don’t have a traditional laundry sink in my laundry space and realize now I don’t need it. I have a utility sink in the garage and it gets used there for diy project stuff, but I never hand wash anymore so don’t miss it in the laundry....See MoreLaundry Room/Bedroom/Bathroom Layout Help Needed
Comments (3)Thanks, Patricia. A few reasons for moving the laundry room; first, the majority of the laundry is coming from/lives upstairs so we prefer to not have to haul the laundry up and down stairs to wash then put away (our previous home had laundry on the floor with the bedrooms and we loved it). Second, the current laundry space is pretty sub-optimal taking over the only entrance to the house from the garage and more than anything we need that space for a mudroom/storage. We only need two bedrooms upstair max which is why we're comfortable losing one to become some laundry/bathroom configuration....See More12x12 tiles in bathrooms, laundry
Comments (12)I don't know about dated, but I can say that 12x12 tiles seem to be much less popular in recent years. I think the preference is to go to larger tiles, and I do like larger tiles to minimize the number of grout lines. However, the larger the tile you go with, the more overage material you'll have to order because of the cuts....See MoreLaundry & Bathroom floorplan
Comments (15)With regards to the bedroom your proposal is what the house currently has but the bedroom is too small and more of a study. So we've decided to create more space in the room by removing the current powder room. We will be entering the house from the garage, through the mudroom so all the mess is left behind before coming into the house. The shower downstairs means that showers can be had downstairs before coming into the house and bringing mud in - very handy for my husband's line of work and even kids swimming/sport lessons etc. The family room isn't as big as you think when you put a piano in there....See Moreacm
