Using a nightstand as an end table????????
Comments (17)In your mind, disregard the 'name' and just call it a 'side table'. That's what I had to do with 'sewing machine cabinet'. I had to call it 'side table' in my leetle head so that I could use it as a night stand. Needed a table for a very, very high bed (thank you Mr. Amity for the mis-measurement) and thinking out of the box I came up with a vintage sewing machine cabinet that is the perfect height. In other words, doesn't matter what you use as a 'table' (stacked vintage suitcases as tables have been around for ages!) as long as it works for You and your family....See MoreNightstand - should I paint this black?
Comments (100)Val - It's more of a tiny puncture. Still frustrating though. At least a didn't break the bank on the coverlet! :) I wanted to be able to close the curtains at night. The romans would mainly be for pretty. I wouldn't have to add the bamboo romans but I thought they could add some nice texture. If you look at the last couple of pics the tall dresser is moved down about to the lightswitch. I loved that brass lamp when I bought it cheap at the thrift store. I paid too much for the shade that I think is too small and couldn't return. I'm about ready to get rid of it. I don't think it looks right on the dresser either but it was basically my last attempt to use it. I'll move the round table back. I have this chair and had considered using it in the office if we ever get it done. Obviously it would need recovered. Maybe in the plaid if I keep this layout? Oh, I wanted to mention, there are character marks on top the vanity already. I don't know how that will be with the cats. I feel like I'm trying to make the vanity look like a focal point, like a fireplace, but it's not a fireplace, iykwim....See MoreTiny space for nightstands.
Comments (13)Something like this Annette (size, not necessarily style) [https://www.houzz.com/products/arteriors-home-chloe-end-table-9962-prvw-vr~37323289[(https://www.houzz.com/products/arteriors-home-chloe-end-table-9962-prvw-vr~37323289) I was going to post a link to something more rustic, but I was blown away by the fact that my search for a round end table came up with the exact table I have sitting in the interior corner of my family room sectional. I can't believe they show a list of $940 and are selling it at $672 -- everywhere. I bought mine at TJ Maxx or Home Goods for $49.99. I had to double check where they had written the price on it with a sharpie underneath. TJ Maxx, Home Goods and Pier One would be good places to look for small side, end, cocktail/martini tables -- whatever you call them. Hope you can find a similarly great find. The floating shelves are neat too. I just prefer a table that is more flexible and can be used anywhere -- doesn't leave holes in the walls. Especially since you would be mounting into wood rather than drywall....See MoreWould you call this an end table?
Comments (8)Why does it matter if it is antique. If you like it and it complements the rest of the furniture, then use it. If you don't like it and it doesn't work then it is too expensive at any price. I furnished with pieces that I call "good used furniture". My sole criteria was whether I like the piece and whether the price was less than an equivalent piece of new furniture that I otherwise would buy. When I redecorated recently I re-evaluated everything and got rid of some of my old stuff that I no longer liked - and kept (and refinished) some items that I still really liked. For example, I kept my original bedroom furniture in the Waterfall style minus the bed and dressing table. I repurposed the dressing table into two night stands and had the armoire and bureau refinished. Had a new bed made to my specifications. Kept the furniture because I liked it as well or better than any new bedroom pieces I looked at. As others have posted antique looking brown furniture has been reproduced for years and years. It might be 100 years or more old but it is more likely from the 1920's or 1930's although the 1920's are now officially antiques or almost so 🤣🤣 My aunts had end tables like that in the 1950's and I am reasonably certain they bought them new....See MoreIdaClaire
