Have you reupholstered a tattered chair, transformed a dresser or revitalized bookshelves? Share your handiwork!

Giving a second life to a tired piece of furniture is good for the environment and good for your wallet too. A DIY project also can provide a chance to create a one-of-a-kind piece that you just wouldn’t find at a big-box store.
Houzzers, please tell us and show us: How have you revived something in your home, and how much did the project cost? Your example might be a huge endeavor that took hours of sanding and refinishing, or a simple one that required only a coat of paint.

Have you reupholstered a chair? Whether you already owned the chair or found it at a garage sale or flea market, if you refurbished it, we’d love to hear about the process.
Andrea Mihalik of Wild Chairy bought this chair at an auction. She wanted to keep the frame intact and took her time finding the perfect fabric to complement the wood’s color.

The chair got a bold new look, thanks to a bright Trina Turk fabric.

Have you modernized an old dresser? Houzz contributor and self-described reluctant DIYer Becky Harris tried her hand at transforming an antique pine dresser she got from her grandmother when Harris was a kid.
After a lot of elbow grease, a two-tone paint job and new glass hardware, Harris’ dresser was reborn.

Have you punched up built-in bookshelves? Designer Kimberlee Gorsline of Kimberlee Marie Interior Design took dark wood floor-to-ceiling bookshelves in a Washington home and transformed them with paint.
Painting the bookshelves coral completely changed the look and feel of the space, turning the once-dark study into one the softest-looking rooms in the house.
