My new living room-Before and After/Lots of Pics
Comments (12)Thank you all for your messages! rucnmom----omg is his voice annoying or what?! I didnt even realize he was in the pic lol. msrose---dh was against us replacing the carpet as our old one was in such nice good condition. but it was kelly green during the day, forest green at night and i couldn't handle it anymore. soooooo, to get me to keep quiet, he allowed me to order a new one. whoo hoo!! dgmarie----i thought of changing the curtains but i begged him about a year and 1/2 ago to let me buy them and they cost me $160 a window so i have to live with them at least another year. i have no where else I can use them and it would be wasteful to just get rid of them. *sighs* happyladi-----i had the table next to the sofa but it blocked the clock. i have to wait to ask DH to move the clock and the pics. for now i can live with it. :o) i was so excited to share all of this with you!!!...See MoreBefore and After on LIving Room
Comments (29)andee--it's funny you mention the picture over the sofa-- it was a topic of great discussion in my last post. My father-in-law painted it and I've been trying to figure out where to put it. It seems to be too small to put over either the sofa or the fireplace. Some suggested reframing and matting it, but I think my fil would have a fit if we did that since he kept telling us how he spent a long time picking out the perfect frame. I have some pictures that I took last night to show you what I mean about putting it over the fireplace. I'll upload them tonight. I'll also take a pic of the sunroom to show you how it ties in and post that tonight. Nanny2a--the paint is Fairway Oaks (Benjamin Moore). Charlikin--you'd have to fight my husband for that chair--he's fallen asleep in it a few times :)...See MoreBefore-n-after: Living Room
Comments (11)Ok, this is the "conversation" side, and the on-topic "discussion" is the other one. It is the "conversation" side, this side, which is mostly forgotten. As long as we all figure out something to do with this side, it will be nice to have it. Idie2live, you have a good approach to keeping it easy, always a winner in my book. And I am pleased to see the inside of your living room, with the view looking toward the finished porch. Your french door is the perfect touch. I don't think I saw your LR before. I like the chairrail, the paint job, the brown color....even the large preliminary test patch on the original wall color, and the ceiling painted too. The 4" deep shelf recessed into the wall makes an architectural statement, as well as organizing your displayed items. That drop leaf table is a real spacesaver, and the wood is nice and rich looking. And someone GAVE you the sofa? Wow, it is gorgeous. Fits your style perfectly. I don't know if you have another red/orange pillow for your sofa, but I think one with some red in the design (not a solid color) would tie in with the painting behind the sofa. Or maybe a throw with some red in it, draped across the sofa arm? The blue in your sofa pillows is the ONLY blue I could ever live with. It reminds me of wet silk and the rain going on in your painting. Well, if I ever finish any projects here, I'll post the before and afters....cut to the chase...like a project in digest form....See MoreLiving Room Before and After
Comments (13)Ditto what nosoccermom said! Buying new pillows obviously, so why not point a client in a direction that takes a room from amateur to professional? Pillows can always be returned if the client hates them. With a dark brown sofa, you could add pillows with pattern, texture, and color that would take it to the next level. Right now, you're certainly improving things, and with a bit more work it will take it to the professional level. The current artwork above the sofa is so bland, and art can be had that's affordable for anyone at places like Home Goods, Ross, Marshalls, Ikea, etc. Here are a couple photos of LR with dark sofa that show you how to brighten and make the room more welcoming. Good luck with your new business and study great decorators' portfolios....See MorePeter DeSevo
