Treatment for arched bathroom window over front door
Comments (7)A top down / bottom up shade might work actually....I have to look at it today with that in mind. All of the other windows have cellular blinds which are older and worn out and some are non-functioning or poorly functioning and one window definitely doesn't have a blind at all. I don't really like the idea of frosted film simply because we actually like to look out that window to check weather or look for daddy doing yard work or the neighborhood cat, etc. I feel like it would be a major loss if the window was obscured all the time. I agree that maybe painting the shutters white would look better. There is a lot of natural mid to dark wood throughout the house so its safe to say the previous owner really liked that look. We tend to go for lighter, brighter neutral with pops of color. I honestly had no idea about an ornamental leaded design......but I could see that possibly working after I searched some ideas. And yes, that is the stupidest place to put a bathroom. I have no idea what they were thinking. I think it would make a nice little office though, looking out on the front yard. I'd put built in shelves on the back wall so that's all you'd see when you looked in the window from the street....See MoreIdeas on adding a gable over our front doors and window above them
Comments (7)I agree a gable will look all wrong for this style of house and so are the doors and that arched trim is also wrong over the door. Google modern house entryies and see what might work I honestly have no idea wahy you would want to cover a window at all. I could see a cedar 2 step deck at the front with a flat extension maybe over the door and attached to the jut out on the right . IMO a new paint color and trim would make a huge difference along with the new doors....See MoreHow to disguise/change huge front arch window?
Comments (15)We had two of those in our vacation home, one in front and one in back. I hated them. We removed both of them. The one in back was over a set of french doors flanked by double hung windows, and we replaced it with transoms. The one in front was over double entrance doors, which we removed when we redesigned the front of the house. It now has a single door with side lights on the first floor, and a double hung window with side lights on the second floor. It's a much more classic look, which you could get by replacing it as nexp described above....See MoreFront door needs character!! Any modern or transitional ideas???
Comments (4)I like what you have as existing. A much larger welcome mat would be appropriate. The plain white planter should be a color instead because it doesn't match all your off-white colors. I might have considered planters at the base of each column instead of next to the front door. I think your cone-shaped shrubs have probably grown too large for your home....See Moreriellebee
