Will this huge window blow our budget?
Comments (16)Thanks everyone. I should have mentioned more particulars. The neighborhood requires aluminum clad, wood, or fiberglass windows. we will be using aluminum clad. Is that what you think the windows are? The foyer with the staircase is the interior room that contains the large window. I agree that such a large window on the inside is a little awkward, but it really makes the outside. We are in South Louisiana and the front of the house faces South. My guess was 6000 for the windows alone because each aluminum clad window will run about 700, right? What I have no idea about is how big of a deal/ cost it would be to frame them. They would not need to be working windows....See MoreHow to best disguise a treadmill?
Comments (14)I really appreciate the feedback from everyone, and your concern that my treadmill be used. Yayagal, your comment was hilarious. What a sense of humor! Apparently the fold up screen is not a big deal. I will wait several months as several have suggested to see how this plays out. If putting it into position becomes too difficult, I'll move it into the garage and exercise out there. There is no way I'm going to have a treadmill sitting in a nicely furnished room -- that's just me. The other bedroom has a bed taking up almost the entire room, which is where I sleep. If it stays inside, I'll post photos for feedback....See MoreHelp! Treatment for Arched window over the front door
Comments (2)You can get drapes made up for that window, but 98% of the time this windows are left open. The whole idea of this type of a window is to display the chandelier and the staircase... Unless of course, someone likes to run around naked in that case you would cover that up because I doubt someone would be parked in front of the house and wait for someone to cross the hallway. In my development, everyone has this windows and none of them are covered....See MoreWindow and fireplace remodel! Remove old arches windows
Comments (9)If it were my house, I’d either remove the fireplace (since it’s not a real wood burning fireplace anyway) entirely and replace it with a window OR I’d remove the fireplace and replace it with a real one if budget allowed. Either way, that fireplace would be gone! Regarding the windows: I think it might make more sense to leave the shape as-is because, really, spending $10,000 to change the shape of those windows is kind of like pissing into the wind. Plus, the curve can be disguised with the right window treatments....See MoreDiana Bier Interiors, LLC
