Huge 1/2 circle window above front door
Comments (3)I agree with Nini. I'd leave it uncovered and enjoy it for its architectural detail. There are many homes in my area with those kinds of windows and I don't think I've seen any that were covered, even those with a "bridge" over the foyer that connects the bedrooms on either side of the second floor. I'd love to see pictures, both inside and outside views, because that might make a difference in what I'm suggesting....See MoreAny Ideas for Double Front Doors with Large Arched Window?
Comments (12)oh man,,,no shades for that door. it's a beautiful door. (are you doing a UV clear coat to protect it? It doesn't look like anything was applied to the exterior. please look in to Penofin oil, the Marine one. that mahogany is gorgeous but you have to protect it or it will turn a horrid gray shade over time this is Ipe, but your mahogany will react similar. It will deepen and look even better after applying this oil it will protect it from any sun/or water and UV rays. it's easy to use and only needs a touch up every few years. if you don't do anything else to that door, do this product! if you MUST have privacy, then call in a glass guy and have them install some type of glass to the panels. A rain glass would look great. or, maybe they can apply a reflective film that is not noticeable from the inside...See MoreI’m adding faux cedar headers above windows
Comments (73)Hey Amanda! I love the color of your home. I thought about using a similar shade but at the end of the day I went with Night Blooming Jasmine by Behr. I filled in the nail holes with silicone caulk which I probably should’ve used caulk that is made for stucco because I can’t paint over the silicone, it just beads up. that the builder had used to attach those nasty, moldy, chipping creatures. They used 4 to 5 3 inch nails plus an adhesive. Those nails were a bit of an overkill if you ask me. I filled in the space where I’d removed the styrofoam trim with stucco patch made by Rapid Set. You have to be careful when blending it in with your existing stucco so it looks natural. Then I painted it!! I haven’t done anything over my arch yet still!!! I’m wanting to add stone accent around it. I’ve taken on another demon of a project and that’s landscaping. I hadn’t yard graded to correct my stormwater drainage issues and he apparently didn’t know what he was doing and left me with a complete nightmare. Red Georgia clay!!! And drainage is worse than before....See MoreUpdating our entire exterior: balcony design, front door ideas?!
Comments (4)I do like that photo! I like that sort of grand entrance and I think the black balconies look pretty nice, though I would maybe do a simpler design. But seeing that photo makes me think black might look really nice. Unfortunately we moved some things around internally and no longer had space for the double door. And splitting the balconies I guess is more to open up opportunity for the entrance/front door area and the private balconies were sort of a secondary bonus....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
