Hard wire chandelier to swag
Comments (10)Thanks all. My worry too is hanging the chandelier from the recess canister kit. I think I will figure out how to swag it for now. So going to go look at lowes for some kind attach cord and plug. Possibly putting chandelier together first and then go from there. It should be here next week. Just ordered a zebra print chair to go in the kitchen eat n area too. Under the desk. Maybe it will LOL never end up there. Found a black 150.00 rocking chair that has a broken arm. They said I could have it for 20.00 ..I was like sold. This means for a whole two bucks I just need to counter sink a screw into it and attach back to wood back. I think? LOL Trying to make the eat n kitchen space area more of a cozy area to enjoy. We shall see...huggles...See MorePlease help locate source for clear 3-wire chandelier cord
Comments (4)Are you sure there's no other support? I'd worry about wire being the only thing holding up the lamp...........unless your lamp is really light....See MoreI think I hung my chandelier too high but I already cut the wire!
Comments (6)I do agree that it looks a bit high, and usually start around the 30" mark when possible. It depends on the chandelier itself, and you never want to hang too low if it's a wide piece for fear of bumping heads! I don't have advice on how to rewire/add length other than consult an electrician, but if you add taller chairs and a tall centerpiece, that could help with the disconnect. Try a cluster of tall/varied height candlesticks or vases in the same color/finish, and maybe add a runner to complete the look. Good luck!...See MoreChandelier wiring question
Comments (2)Yeah, I wish he'd taken a photo too. :\ The capped red wire could be for an optional ceiling fan. It could also be the hot wire to the chandelier that your hubby capped when he removed the old one. So try this; it can't hurt anything. Start by going to the main panel and opening the circuit breaker for the lights. Don't assume that the power is off just because the wall switch is! Find the side of the brown wire from the chandelier that's ribbed on its outer edge (maybe one rib, maybe several). That's the neutral side. Connect it to the two white wires. Connect the other (un-ribbed) side of the brown wire to the red wire. Use wire nuts on these connections, of course. Screw them down good and tight. Connect the copper wire to the ground (bare or green) wires in the box. Breaker back on. Try the switch and see what happens....See More- 4 years ago
