Comments (1)We have a condo up north and we painted the LR Kilim Beige, the accent wall with fireplace Nomadic Desert and the Kitchen Latte. White cabinets, white trim, black countertops. Looks perfect to us. Are the walls in poor condition? If not, you don't need primer. It needs to be clean and dull and finished with two coats of quality paint. Use Dirtex to clean it and dull it. UNLESS the walls were painted with Builder's Flat. Then I recommend a coat of GARDZ, followed by two coats of quality paint. Unless you like the bling created by semi gloss, satin will perform just as well, but that's a personal choice. Comments (3)The porch to the front door is too small. I'd enlarge it at least twice the size, so it's as wide as that portion of the house. Actually, larger than that because I'd take it clear over on the left to meet the garage wall. Cover the porch with a portico or gazebo-type roof. Move the yard lamp post to the left of where the vehicle is parked or get rid of it altogether. I'm a minimalist. I'd get rid of all the pots and things on the right side of the picture. Instead, I'd plant bigger things - flowering shrubs, maybe a small tree. How far does your property go to the right? The front seems cluttered and cramped. I'd plant the new things much further to the right to make the walkway to the porch seem wide open and welcoming. Do you have a back yard? I get the feeling you don't, which would explain why there are toys and lawn furniture in the front. Edited to add: for the porch roof, maybe it would be best to echo the shape of the garage roof rather than a flat gazebo-type....See Morepaint trim and wall or just paint one out of the other
Comments (1)Lovely space. I would paint all of your walls the same warm white or grey. I would paint all of your wood trim white. To me it seems that the light wood trim does not go well with the flooring color....See MorePlease help with odd layout. I'm totally out of ideas (and my mind)
Comments (8)You've done nice work so far. The kitchen is beautiful and so is the floor. I just have a couple of comments. I think your current seating arrangement is as good as it's going to get. I wouldn't buy a loveseat if you can fit two sofas instead. Put a sofa table behind the one facing the TV to will help to define the entrance. Square the TV cabinet up to the wall. Then either put the TV on a swivel or on an articulating arm to adjust for viewing. I like whitewashed fireplaces, so I would start there. You can always paint it if you don't like it, but you can't go the other way. As for style and color, save your favorite rooms in your living room ideabook. I see you already have two, both neutral, both transitional. Try to identify what it is about each room that you like. You will eventually either get a clear vision for the space...or be totally confused and run back here screaming and we'll help you sort it out. ;-)...See More- 4 years agolast modified: 4 years ago
