Scale of furniture for living room?
Comments (4)Thank you Vampiressrn and chijim. I thought I'd put a palm behind the chair in front of the window opposite the stairs. Yes the stairs are used daily but is the second stair case. The chair is an accent chair with open carved wood (spindle like) arms with tan and brown zebra print on the backrest and solid brown leather on the seat. It is rather small and would only be used as a piece to balance the room (in my opinion), and would be extra seating for guests, not that often. It also could be moved closer to the fireplace, when not in use (gas fp). I just worry that as with every thing else, things always look good on paper. My experience is reality is another thing. Right now I have a leather sectional with a curved wedge and it feels all blocked in and a TV over the fire place. The only thing on the left side of the room is a rocker recliner, an end table with lamp and wine rack from the nook. That side feels barren and the other side of room cramped. I think that putting the TV in an entertainment center will make for a better arrangement. Again, my opinion. I have been thinking about hiring an interior designer but can't seem to find any in my area. Plus the furniture I want to purchase is inexpensive, and kinda feels silly to hire one. Thanks again! Comments (47)You have a nice large space there and just some rearranging can solve your dilemma. You have some great pieces there that would look even better with a bit of tweaking. I've arranged all your furniture pieces slightly differently to add a corner reading space with one armchair. I'd remove the slim console you have under the TV and move it towards the window. You could add a different media cabinet there or just wall mount your TV. As @Flo Mangan says, your mirror is too large for that wall and I'd definitely recommend moving it elsewhere. I'd also recommend you bring in some color to your space by adding a colored rug and coordinating pillows on your couches. I think a bright Persian rug would look great and really would elevate the room. Here's an example. You could also add some indoor plants and play around with the positions of the art on your walls. Comments (32)It looks great now that your chairs are gone. They work nicely at your table. The coffee table is just the right size, and the glass keeps it looking light. Your art is great. I would just rearrange the three pieces next to your large window. Put the sculpture on the top, the smaller picture in the middle, and the larger picture on the bottom - the reverse order that you have it now. It will feel more balanced with the heavier pieces toward the bottom of the room....See More- 4 years ago
