Comments (2)canguy thanks thanks for the advice I checked the other rod it was fine the one that was loose did come in contact with the back of the I,m guessing is the crank housing the end of the bolts or screws hit it and there are some loose fine shavings. can i just tighten the bolts and go? i,m wondering will they come loose again. also should I replace the rod to be sure and if so how does it come out the easiest? thanks millions Yury...See MoreLoud Bang... and then No Hot Water in tub
Comments (3)I also think something came loose and clogged the hot water line at the faucet. I second the suggestion to turn off the water, then disassemble the faucet and you will probably find a big chunk of lime in the hot water opening. You may also have a clogged anti-scald valve if it's newer. You might try flushing it backwards first before taking it apart: 1. turn off cold water supply to hot water heater. If the heater is electric, turn off the breaker too. 2. Open a hot water faucet - such as a laundry tub - or the Pressure relief valve on the water heater. Don't use a kitchen or bathroom faucet for this. 3. Place a wet rag over the tub spout and hold it in place 4. Open the hot water on the tub 5. open the cold water on the tub Water should run through the hot water side backwards and flush the crud out of the faucet. 6. Turn off the tub, close the hot water faucet that you opened in step #2, turn on the cold water to heater. 7. Open the hot water tap to see if it works. Purge any air out, then turn on the breaker to the water heater....See MoreLoud Bang in House
Comments (22)That might be a good idea. Where I am hearing the sounds might be tough to get to but perhaps I can try it anywhere in the attic and it should at least make a similar sound I would assume right? It is such a loud sound sometimes that I mean I even have searched the house for cracks to make sure I am not dealing with a sinkhole or something....See MoreIntermittent loud thuds well after my faucets are turned off
Comments (0)Hello, After I have run my water anywhere in the home (bathroom faucet, kitchen faucet, basement water when my washing machine is located) I will hear loud, intermittent thuds or bangs coming from my pipes. I also notice the intermittent banging sound once the water starts running in my laundry, dishwasher, and when I turn on the shower. I don’t think it is a water hammer issue as I have come to read that those normally occur as soon as a faucet is turn on and the pressure differential causes a loud bang. The bangs that I hear are, again, after I started running the water in my dishwasher, laundry and shower. I also hear it well after I turned off bathroom faucets and kitchen faucets...intermittently, well after I have run the water and turned off the faucets. I hope this is making sense. One note - I do not have a sump pump. I thought that might be important to note. I do have a built in waterproofing system around the perimeter of my basement. Any guidance would be most appreciated so that, when I do hire a professional to assess/diagnose, I will have some inkling of an idea if the professional is on the right track and not trying to exacerbate current issues. Thanks a million!...See MoreAnnegriet
