What do I do with this Large Space? Need Decorating Help
Comments (16)That far wall is just painted an ugly copper like color, i prefer to drywall it up, there are no doors on that wall, it doesnt go to anywhere. The front door is that wood door where the boxes are in the picture. That is a swimming pool outside of those patio doors, that area is where the dining room will be though. Those sliding glass doors will be french door sliding doors soon. I would like to make the space a more formal living area, I do like the idea of a bar and then 4 chairs with a cocktail table in the middle, should I also maybe included a rug in the space? The problem that I'm having is how to actually layout the formal space, meaning where do I place everything in the room so that it looks clean, modern, and not out of place. The new front door will be white with glass, when that is installed the door that will open will be further away from the copper looking wall and the doors open outward not into the house, so maybe I should put some type of long modern buffet type piece against that copper looking wall?...See MoreBest way to repair large amounts of drywall damage
Comments (7)"Even a smooth wall has many different degrees of texture." I hope you mean roller stipple or brush marks. As long as the wall is uniform in these it will look fine. That is why 'touching up' a rolled wall shows if you use a brush, and the brush cut in around rolled area shows as a slightly different paint texture. Cutting in wider than needed and then not rolling as close as possible makes the effect even more noticeable. A plaster or drywall wall should have no texture at all before painting if it was not purposely applied....See MoreShould I move the kitchen or bathroom? Or try to work with what I have
Comments (3)I have a washing machine in my kitchen area and HATE IT! I see in your option 3 you have the stacked washer and dryer in your eating nook. In my household there are always laundry baskets that have to be stored somewhere (which takes up space in an already small kitchen). Just something to think about. Also, is there a reason you need a bathtub on the main floor? If you could get rid of it you'd have alot more space because you wouldn't need such a huge bathroom....See MoreWhat should I do with this 1950's bathroom
Comments (46)Oh goodness Susan.. If I had to choose between the monkey paper and that stuff that was under it... I can understand why the folks papered monkeys over the old stuff. The old paper is a bit prettier, and I could see it maybe in a different bathroom or other... . but wow that must have been rather harsh with the brown tile edging the white tiles. Even when new. I bet once you get the glass door out and those cleaned up walls primered in white again and can breathe for a minute.. you still might think twice about those brown tiles amongst the much fresher and open palette. Have some fun for a week or few with putting up a new window treatment and shower curtain, trying out some paint samples. And out of curiosity.. on the right side of your OP it looks like a section of mirror extends from the medicine cabinet to the corner... have you started cleaning off the walls there yet? Does the wallpaper continue on behind the mirror or not? All of the color replacements folks have so kindly provided eliminate the mirror there....See MoreManon Floreat
