Is bedding also staying? First I would turn the rug and pull it closer to the night stands so when you step out of bed you step on the rug. I would also hang panels on the windows. Nice comfy chair. Agree move chest to the left. Mors art. Colorful pillows

You chose a lovely, soothing wall color. To extend it, find an upholstered bench in that color. Add soft white linen drapes to the windows. A larger, dreamy skyscape with some of the same blues would add to the mood.

The low dresser with the mirror should stay put since it reflects light from the opposite window during the day.

IMO the windows need drapery panels

Mirror or framed art on either side of the bed

A mirror over the bed and

A large patterned rug to complement your wall color.

I would also replace the fan with a chandelier if possible.

I like what you have so far, and agree that moving the dresser to the left and creating a lounge/reading area in that corner would be nice. We have a Pottery Barn woven rattan chair (found it on Craigslist for super cheap) in the corner of our room that gets used more by cats and kids, but it's nice to have a cozy spot to sit. I think a larger rug, and maybe one with some color, would be great in your room. And I agree with jck910 that curtain panels would look great. If you have a larger piece of art you could try it over the bed, and try lowering the art a bit when you center it.

Your layout and furniture remind me a lot of our master bedroom, which still needs finishing touches after 15 years! Seems it's always at the bottom of the to-do list so I just make bits of progress here and there.

IMO the bedding is where I would start, I never like wood blinds in a bedroom I think drapes are much nicer . The lamps are too small and need to be taller , I am pretty sure you could find a better piece of art I like the bed but not the rug and it needs to be placed for your feet when you get up. Yes to anice chair and a bench if they will both fit. A chair is best with a small table and a lamp for it to make sense and hopefully discourage it from being a drop spot .I would remove the mirror from the dresser and put the TV on top of the dresser. I would put the taller dresser in the walk in closet so the space does not get too cluttered.

Draperies over blinds or shades are done all the time. Your blinds are mounted inside the frame and the rod is mounted above the frame.

And thanks Patricia! i was thinking though a floating tv shelf centered to the bed then still putting the chair with little end table in the corner. Is that doable? It would be centered with the rugs. Or too crowded? Wish I knew how to photoshop!

so i centered the dresser in this pic to see how a floating tv stand might fit. The stand will be 10 inches wider. Threw in my daughters chair and end table to see how it would look. Can I do dresser on the left, tv stand in the middle then new chair and end table on the right?? Would need a lamp there as well. Maybe a lamp with a built in end table....

If I do the tv stand maybe just a plant in the corner instead?

Why not just hang the panels in front of the existent blinds? Just means you need to measure for the correct bracket depth. I would also replace the lamps and rug.

I find it interesting how we all have a space that we get around to last. Somebody could probably write a book about how which room ya decorate last is based on your personaiity type, or the Zodiac, or ????

Nice room, you have a good start with that soothing wall color! Love suggestions above for the more colorful or patterned rug and drapery panels.

It might feel crowded to have the tall dresser, TV stand, AND little seating area all on that wall.

If needed, could you move tall dresser to where the low dresser and mirror are now? Then, move the low dresser to wall facing bed, and hang TV over that. (No need to buy a floating TV console)

Is there another spot you could use the mirror? Maybe a floor mirror in this room instead?

I would suggest floor-to-ceiling drapery to accentuate the height of your room. Perhaps layer your drapery with some Roman Shades. Not only creates a sophisticated look, but you'll have endless light blocking opportunities!

Thanks everyone! The lamps are from Ballard design bought just 2 years ago so they are staying. I know you all have some strong opinions about drapes but not loving the idea of panels in front of the outside mount wood blinds so will have to think about it. I also like my dresser mirror.. Sorry to disappoint but I need this room to function for our day to day lifestyle... But some really great ideas thank you. Will keep you posted!
