Mulch: A must?
Comments (10)Thanks, DTD. I take no credit for the gardens, really -- although they were so overrun when we moved in, it's taken me three years of hard labor to get them cleaned up. Which is why I don't want to spend my life weeding! The side "garden" (with the gi-normous kousa dogwood) was just a total mess, completely overrun with whatnot. When we hooked into the public sewer, we had the fortune to have all that whatnot dug out, so that saved me a LOT of work! I'm now still trying to figure out what to do with it so I'm not in a constant weeding battle. Probably should at least mulch over there, since it's primarily plain dirt due to so much weeding and yanking out deeply buried sensitive fern all last summer. The kousa, by the way, dropped so much fruit last fall that I'm going to be pulling out tiny kousa seedlings all spring. This in addition to the approximately 100,000 maple seedlings I'll undoubtedly have to pull. Agh!! Here is a link that might be useful: Last two are Before shots...See MoreSize of container for growing minis
Comments (5)Depends on the mini (are you sick of me saying that yet??? ;-))). 3 in a pot: I wouldn't, but some people do. Those Poulsen minis sold by the mass marketers are 4 - 8 rooted cuttings to a pot, and if you didn't know it and planted the whole thing in the ground or in a pot, you would have 4 - 8 plants all growing together. My Incognito plants are each 1.5' - 2' wide and 3' tall (they are in the ground). I have Sorpotimist International in a 16" diameter (at the top) container, I know it has rooted through the bottom, and could easily go into a 20" pot....See MoreHelp! Our wood look tile was not laid randomly!
Comments (123)The pattern of the tile is fairly common for 12x24 tiles(stock set). However, it should always be discussed with the customer first( with at least a drawn detail of direction and how it is to be installed, Second, worked from the center of the room so it looks balanced to the eye, also if that back part were the wall is in fact a an extremely small shower, then the comment before me is right, you do have MUCH bigger problems. I have been a floor covering contractor for close to 30 years, and no matter how small a project is, it is important for an installer and customer to go over the customers wants( best to get it in writing). One can always show a customer setting patterns with some tiles(as they are not tile contractors. Some customers will say,(you are the expert, do what you feel is best), which can result in customers being upset with the end result....See MoreKitchen help. Paint or peel and stick backsplash?
Comments (1)Personally I’d tackle the floors before anything else. I would not do gray paint. But hard to suggest what to go with without knowing your style. I’d do blue probably lol. Or white. The backsplash isn’t terrible. At all. I’d skip risking the peel and stick. I’d remove the curvey thing over the sink tho. And add knew hardware. Doorknobs... Your house seems awesome!!! Looks like it has a lot of character. I can see it from the doors. Lovely!!! I know I didn’t really answer your questions much. But hope this helped somewhat....See Morellitm
