Comments (344)Yes, the motor board can fail in a way that keeps the diverter powered continuously (whenever the machine is connected to power). Unfortunately, the board probably has gone bad again for some reason. From where did you source the new board? Display boards can go bad but less common than motor boards. Did you remove the display board from the console during your investigations? Is it perhaps askew such that the far-left buttons are misaligned from the overlay? There's no way to access diagnostic mode or any other set-up mode (such as machine size) if the machine is non-responsive. Fault codes are viewed by pressing Spin Speed (up or down) until both Slow and Hold are lit. You did that procedure correctly when checking? Machine Size is set (with power off) by pressing/holding Water Temp Up (instead of Temp Down for Diagnostics), then Power. The selected size is indicated by Cold (small tub), Low (medium tub), or Hold (large tub). Press the the appropriate Temp, Level, or Spin Up button to select, then Power to exit. All US machines are large tub. You can try swapping-in the old board if you still have it to see what happens. It works other than the diverter problem? The various wire connectors are different sizes so should only fit to the correct locations (other than a smaller connector possibly into a wrong larger socket)....See MoreFisher&Paykel GWL15 pump issue?
Comments (8)Ok another update, I removed the pump again. The impeller turns freely and there does not seem to be any obstruction. I did notice what appears to be some mineral build up, possibly from our water. I have not noticed any water leaking under the washer, but there must have been a very small amount leaking if there is a light build up on the outside of the pump. The pump does not appear to be corroded though. Maybe this is normal to have a very little build up? I did notice that the pump was still warm to the touch after having been off for 45minutes, so I assume it must have been really hot when it was running. I am checking the rest of the hoses now for anymore debris, but at this point does it sounds like the pump? To reiterate, when it works, the pump seems to pump out the water at full speed, then just quits....See MoreFisher & Paykel GWL15 drain pump keeps running
Comments (1)When exactly do you mean that the pump continues running? At end of the final spin when the machine should otherwise shut off? Or, if you are referring to the drain period after the agitated wash, the pump won't shut off immediately when the water has drained. It keeps running for a while into the rinse phase. It has to run during spin to drain the extracted water away. There are multiple spin periods during the rinse phase of the cycle, as well as the final spin. It does shut off a few mins into the final spin, then turns back on at the end when spin begins decelerating. An abnormally noisy pump would indicate either that the bearings are getting bad (and it may be leaking a little), or a foreign object or lint/debris may be clogging the tub outlet and rubbing on the impeller. The pump can be run either by advancing the cycle to the final spin, or test run separately in diagnostic mode -- With Power off, press and hold Wash Temp Down, then press Power at the same time. Should get two beeps and panel comes on. Press the Regular cycle button to turn the pump on (or off). Press Power to exit diagnostics. You need to inspect the pump ASAP. A leaking pump can short-out and zap the controller board. Unplug the machine and lean it back for access beneath. The pump is a small electric motor with a fan on the bottom, mounted on a metal plate toward the right side under the tub. Do not remove the mounting plate. Disconnect the pump wires (two wires on a connector plug, separate ground). Find a plastic latch on the bracket near the pump head. Hold the latch released and rotate the entire pump counterclockwise (as viewed from beneath) to detach it from the plate. Have a large towel ready to catch the residual water that remains in the tub outlet. Examine the pump for signs of leaking (rusting or mineral deposits) or bad bearings. With the pump removed, look and feel for foreign objects or a lint/debris clog in the tub outlet opening. The pump is Part Number 420325P. SearsPartsDirect.com carries F&P parts, or FisherPaykelParts.net. Or eBay sellers. A replacement pump should include a retrofit fuse to be spliced into one of the pump wires inside the control panel to help protect against zapping the board. Be sure to follow the directions exactly for your model (GWL15, add the fuse into the WHITE pump wire)....See Morefisher paykel spin cycle
Comments (21)First, "Excellence 6.5" is a marketing name, not a model number. The specific model number, such as GW609 or GW611, etc., should be cited for proper identification. "to test diverter I pushed delicate. Did not light. 3-4 beeps. Waited more than couple mins. In fact only cycle that lit was regular - it hummed." Some models don't have a diverter valve, depends on age and features of the machine. Could be a bad or jammed/obstructed pump. Not clear from your description if "hummed" means the pump was running (normal sound for pump operation), or a fainter hum of the pump getting power but is seized ... if so it should trip-out on thermal overheat quickly enough and the humming sound stops until it cools and tries to run again....See MoreDavidR
