Area Rug for Living Room; Right Size (Photos)?
Comments (13)I really, really dislike a rug that doesn't fit under the legs of major seating pieces - it's OK if you have an occasional chair that just doesn't fit into the area that well. I want my FEET on the rug - definitely not half-way between table and sofa. I think 8x10 will be perfect, but if an 8x10 covers too much floor space, take a look at 6x9. Overstock has a great selection of 6x9's and also Crate and Barrell. PB has no 6x9's. Definitely run the long side of the rug with the length of the room. Also, will you be placing a TV console table under the TV? If so, think about how it will factor into the size of the rug. I would want it to either but up close to the front legs of the console or at least a foot under it. Hope that makes sense....See MoreHelp with living room rug size please!
Comments (13)Oly, I love the rug. It's nice to walk and stand on, and the color is perfect. It's 100% wool, which I love. The couch will be the same navy leather as the chairs in a few weeks. It is on order. So the pattern in the rug won't compete with the floral in the couch. Ingrid, thanks for your suggestions. Everything faces the tv in this room (over the fireplace). I'd i loves the right hand chair to be directly across from the window chair, it would sit in the middle of an open wall to the dining room. Yes, the couch is at an angle. About 45 degrees. It brings it into the room instead of so far back u see the stairs. There is a sofa table behind it, also at an angle. There is enough room behind that for me to walk back there. Here is another view from the dining room. I have always found this living room layout difficult to arrange....See MoreLiving Room Furniture Advice
Comments (4)i wanted to put a TV in here but my husband wants to keep this a formal entertaining area, he won that one. right now everything in the room seems very neutral and its elegant but definitely feel like it'd be nice to introduce some color/pattern/texture to have more character. i was thinking maybe a different rug, chairs near the sofas & throw pillows? open to opinions!...See MoreLiving room too big for one seating area but too small for two. Comments (10)My living room is 17 1/2 x 15 1/2 I don't find it too large for a single seating area. I guess it depends on how you lay out the furniture. Where your TV is we have a fireplace with book shelves. The TV is in the book shelves with 2 chairs flanking the fireplace. I have my couch where you have your love seat and my love seat where you have you couch. Maybe switch your love seat and couch. This would push back the room and fill up the empty space....See MoreBrittany Lyons Interiors
