Absolutely, it is wonderful to have a place to come to get questions answered and bounce ideas off of others. For myself, when I was working I didn't get much chance to really "play" in the kitchen. So now that I'm retired and have time, I am learning all kinds of things and I appreciate you all!!

L, I don't remember how long I've been here, since before 2000 anyway, when Spike still ran the place and you could get banned to the Disney site if you broke his rules, LOL.

I've gotten a lot of help here, and not just cooking. My friends were here when I got divorced, when my grandchildren were born, when I met Elery and remarried. We've had exchanges and meetings and get togethers, made friends and then made more friends. Some have died like Lee, Janet, Sharon/Canarybird, our dear taste tester and chauffeur Roger, Ray the "houseguest". Others just don't post here anymore, they've moved on to Facebook and other websites, or blogs of their own, and they are replaced with new posters. Through it all, we just keep cooking.

So I'll join you in welcoming any new members and any lurkers out there. When I first came here I'd never eaten lemon curd, had never heard of Trader Joe's and my cooking utensils consisted of some old Revere Ware and cast iron skillet. I kept the skillet, we finally got a Trader Joe's within an hour's drive and I don't make lemon curd very often because I'll eat it with a spoon like it's pudding, LOL.

Sunday my oldest Grand Daughter wanted my recipe for Turkey Gravy. Ummm.... don't actually have a recipe per se, so I sent her here because I remembered a recent thread about such. Then she wanted a stuffing recipe; eventually found mine but only after I had already sent her back here. She did find a gravy recipe and will be using my stuffing recipe. Perhaps I have introduced a new member to the Forum. This is a great resource for good cooking.

Annie, I actually got sent - briefly- to Disney for some infraction on the CA Gardening Forum why back when. Forgot all about that until your posting. :-))

I am trying to remember how long I’ve been here. I think it was pre-2000. Whenever it was, it was before the period when the site was fee-based. I am grateful to all of the folks who have helped me be a better cook, who helped me re-design my kitchen (which was so well-done, I sold that house in 30 minutes!), and have generally been a terrific source of information.

I hope all of you newbies will feel welcomed and encouraged. This is a great group!

i have been around GW since at least 1996.....my first question was about knockout roses. I spent most of my time at the Kitchen forum redoing a couple of kitchens and so it was only logical to want to participate in cooking after the kitchens were remodeled!

Welcome, newbies! I don't know how long I've been part of this forum, but I remember I did have to pay to join and Spike was in charge. I've learned so much and this is a place I rely on to answer Q's about cooking. I've only been in touch personally with one member (Hi, Annie) but feel I know many more. It's a friendly place.
