The Orchid Forum
Comments (6)Hi Digitalphrag, The purpose of this forum is to exchange information about orchids, rather than compare positive and negative aspects of various GW forums and their members. In my opinion, starting down that road would defeat our purpose and leave less time and energy for, as you put it so well, "almost always doing a good job of welcoming newbies, giving them sage advice (even if we sometimes offer contradictory opinions on certain things), providing external links, and things like that." Comments (15)Bill, spending 12 years in GA and being married to a southern boy I've harvested many crops of okra and must admit that I absolutely love them fried! Jo, a BIG warning about growing okra down here, planted in the ground instead of in containers the nematodes will get to it quickly.... You should come to Silvia's get-together, you'd love it. Comments (129)Received my great box from Rose today and what fun to open. She included a 4 o'clock tuber which is great because I couldn't grow any successfully last year so this will give me a head start. The cutest little painted gourd ornament that is hanging on our tree as I type this, nothing but that is on that tree because I am so far behind but it looks great. I love the ornaments I hang on the tree each year from my gardenweb friends. A decorative spray can for misting my plants, (much needed), seeds, hot cocoa mix, (again much needed as our temps have dropped), all fruit spread that will be out on the table tomorrow morning at breakfast and a huge jar of honey that I can't wait to start using. Thank you so much for all the great things packed in my box Rose. It is all much appreciated. I hope everyone is off to a great weekend. I spent an hour last night standing in the freezing cold after the maintenance guy hit a gas line while trying to dig next to our building to fix where we had water leak every time it rained. The store quickly filled up so we had to leave and it took almost an hour to get the company out to shut off the gas. The guy that hit the line thought it was no big deal and told other businesses that they didn't need to worry. The gas company was not happy with him. Since he was the one who caused the problem, he or his boss will be responsible. He made a real mess that escalated into big problems so this will cost someone thousands of dollar. Thus, the reason the gas company says "call before you dig". Smitties...See MoreWelcome Newbies! Come introduce yourself...
Comments (40)Sharon- Jan's was on the Golden Mile and yes she did have cancer, but she is doing well. That Golden Mile really got built up since we moved here. After Jan's closed my sister opened up a salon Studio One that was there for nine years, right across from the old Strouds. I lived in Lopez, which is only seven miles from Dushore. My Mom still lives in Lopez which is where we spent thanksgiving. I'm sure I went to school with OConnors, no one that I graduated with. The one Reardon that I know of, was a older lady named Dorothy, who was killed a few years back crossing the road Christmas Eve to go to church in Mildred and a car hit her right in front of the church. So sad. Doreen...See More- 6 years ago
