Anyone use cork underlayment under laminate?
Comments (14)Oh dear! Here's what I found at that link: Quiet Comfort Premium Underlayment Recommended under all laminate flooring with no attached underlayment (use Armstrong Moisture Barrier Sheeting under laminate flooring with attached underlayment). Quiet Comfort Premium Hard-Surface Flooring Underlayment Recommended under all laminate flooring with no attached underlayment (use Armstrong Moisture Barrier Sheeting under laminate flooring with attached underlayment). Moisture Barrier Sheeting Recommended under all laminate flooring with attached underlayment when installed over concrete. Sigh!! I'm sad!! :o( So--someone must have told you, you could do that with your flooring, brutuses--did the ones putting it down say it, or did you talk to a rep. or did you read it on another site, etc.? I want to believe I can do it, but only if I can without problems down the road like they described I would have if I put ANYTHING down under other than the poly. moisture barrier, which is a 6 ml visqueen, really, I think! I appreciate the time you're taking with me, brutuses!!!...See MoreAny underlayment needed under coretec plus xl?
Comments (1)It sounds like the moisture in the slab is good, and an added barrier isn't necessary as the CoreTec material already has the attached cork underlayment. It may bring you peace of mind as an added precaution, but the CoreTec material is made to withstand moisture. That's what makes it such a great material. You may, however, want to think about sealing the slab before installing the CoreTec. We often recommend this step prior to installing this material. Sealing the slab would eliminate the need of any additional underlayment, and is a better long-term option as well. Comments (13)Hi DW- I love Coretec! I have used it in several applications including this Hair Salon, but also in a residential space. The color I used in both of these projects I am including here is Blackstone Oak, and it was selected because both of my clients wanted it to read Warm and cool, and this flooring had a nice mix of the two colors. With regard to the bevel, I would recommend avoiding it, as it does tend to make it harder to keep clean. While Coretec offers a lifetime warranty in a residential installation (assuming your installer does it to specs), but the bevels, while they are trendy, tend to show wear sooner since it exposes other areas of the flooring moreso than others, and dirt tends to get stuck inside of the creases more often. Good luck with your project! Sounds like you're on the right track! This is the blackstone oak in a residential installation. This is the same flooring in a Hair Salon Commercial installation. Both with out bevels so it will stay nice longer! Good luck on your project!...See MoreComparing LVP samples: Coretec Plus and Mannington Adura
Comments (5)Hi! Nothing has been installed yet, since the whole project is still on hold while we tweak designs, but of all the samples I ordered I ended up liking Build Direct's Vesdura line best, for the quality of the attached underlayment and the textures and colors of the wood-look planks. I ordered a box of it and put it down in front of the sink in my kitchen to stand on and to test how it did in a water-prone environment and it was great. I'm pretty sure this is what I'm going to use....See MoreJess Kay
