OK, I got Firefox's Ctrl+Shift+S to work by selecting the image and choosing download, where it then downloads to my download folder. Still can't get win10's commands to work, tho.

Can't edit my above post (says file not found?????). The keys are actually "Win+Shift+S", not "Win+Ctrl+S" as I mistakenly posted.

Thanks badabing2, but "snip & sketch" is in fact "Win+Shift+S" as I mentioned above. It doesn't work now as it did before.

To update, I did succeed with "Win+Shift+S", outlining an image, and then creating a new blank image file in IrfanView (my pic viewer/editor) & while hovering the cursor in the blank image, pasting by hitting Ctrl+V. This was NOT how I did it before, but at least got it to work. Still, seems harder than it should be. Remember, I'm not using the PrtSc (print screen) key as this isn't what I want -- I want just an image cut from the screen.

When Win10 began to suggest, at user's invocation of Snipping Tool, use of Snip & Sketch instead, the latter didn't work. Snipping Tool is good, efficient, for doing what you asked : Your desired section is in S.T. as soon as you circumscribe it; then within S.T. you clipboard the snip

Are you wanting snips of regions of the screen or just the images themselves?

If just the images, can't you just right-click the image and select "Save Image as..."?

Houzz disables right-click on the houzz url but not on the gardenweb url.

(Although you can regain the right-click menu with something like: Absolute Enable Right Click & Copy)

Richard, installed the FF add-on you mentioned above -- first time on an image it worked, next images it didn't! Guess I'll just substitute gardenweb for houzz in the address.

I don't know why it worked one time and quit. It seems to work for me and remember my decision but I haven't used it but a few times.

Probably when I was playing around on the Houzz URL when... ? edit wasn't working on the Gardenweb URL.

I set it to "Enable Copy" while I was on a Houzz URL and it seems to have remembered. And it still works.

I prefer the Gardenweb URL so once they got edit working I switched my bookmark back to gardenweb(dot)com.

Oh well, at least the address bar substitution gives you what you need when you need it. Not that the techs won't someday break it. :)

Thanks Richard, pretty obvious the houzz software reacted to the add-on & disabled/bypassed it.... So I simply changed my bookmarks here to gardenweb.

I've been using the old keystrokes to put the image on the clipboard. I thought that still worked in Windows 10.

CTRL prtscr copies the entire screen to the clipboard.

ALT prtscr copies only the content inside the active frame to the clipboard.

Once the image is on the clip-board, it can be copied into an application such as Microsoft Word. To copy from the clipboard, use CTRL v.

The main difficulty with this is the user does not see any action when the copy is placed on the clipboard. There is no clue that anything happened, or the process is complete, until the user tries to place a copy from the clipboard to an application.
