Here is the dining room; the table normally will be centered. First photo is from the living room, the second is from the kitchen.

The ceiling beams are 6" high. The dining room table is 40"x69". 8' ceilings, no one in the family is more than 5'9" and the current light is fine for me (the tallest) to walk under.

I would use a flush mount fan over the kitchen table. We used ours all the time in the summer in our last house.

A flush mount unfortunately won't give us a low dining table lamp, and the ceiling bed may interfere with airflow from a flush mount.

The blades won't be at 21", more like 10-12" - still too low? We plan to put the same fan (minus the light) in the living room, which also has 8' ceilings.

I wouldn’t want my food to be cold.

As I said, the goal is to help cool us and ventilate the house but not at meal time. Though the days we really need to cool the house in the evenings are hot enough we would be eating a cold dinner anyway.
