I think I made a BIG mistake
Comments (6)Thanks so much, paintguy! I think my problem may have been that after I cut in with a brush, I painted most of the ceiling with a 1" nap roller on an extension pole. ( I did get the good Purdy one.) I will say it got heavy fast, so I probably applied different pressures. Then I'd go to the ladder and shorter poles. And then, then next day to finish I used a 3/4" roller, and for touch-ups I'd grab a brush. As far as the paint not sticking by the crown, I suspect the old caulk may have been silicone? Glad to hear I don't need scaffolding! And I would call in a pro, but I thought this would be an easy enough job that I could tackle myself, and save the pros for actual construction stuff. I guess a pro would have finished long, long before I ever will, tho! So...maybe different applicators and different pressures are the problem? Sometimes in certain light it almost looks like I used different sheens, but it's all the SW ceiling paint, Wool Skein. I think I'll call this the first coat, and go over it all again with the same roller nap! Again, thanks so much!...See MoreI think I made a mistake with my trim colour.
Comments (8)Jellytoast -- agreed. The bifold doors are being replaced with actual doors sometime in the next few weeks so I didn't bother painting the bifolds. Originally, the wall color, the trim color and the cabinets were all very close in color, they almost blended together. Not sure what the designer was thinking. Jurand05 -- also agreed. The former trim color (same as the bifolds) was dingy looking to my eye, has a yellowish cast and always looked like it need cleaning or something. The white makes the grey wall really pop (it's BM Pashmina) and it brightens up the whole house. Carrying on! Thanks everyone....See MoreHelp! I think I made a painting mistake.
Comments (4)I always like to use the same colour of white for all of the surfaces. I just use the different sheens of paint...flat for ceiling, eggshell for walls, and then semi-gloss for the trim. Pick whichever white will go best with your overall design plan and then just use that one colour....See MoreHELP PLEASE!!!! I think I made a mistake
Comments (15)Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. I did...LOL So here's the update. Far now, I'm not going to paint the trim/door, or game room entrance until I finished painting. I like the idea of painting the trim and wall the same color. Thoughts? The ceilings are currently being painted Sherwin Williams Highly Reflective white. Any suggestions on a neutral paint color? (something to flow with this granite color below). I'm going to paint the main living area of the house including the kitchen the same color. I took this at night close up of granite The white is the granite...See MoreUser
