To replace a rod, you have to remove the head and push the rod/piston assembly out of the block. Before you do that though, you have to remove any wear "ridge" that may have formed in the cylinder at the height where the upper piston ring travels. Failure to do so can break rings (possibly piston), since the rings will "catch" on the ridge. IF one gets THAT involved, it's almost a shame not to install new rings. IF you do it on one cylinder, it pretty much makes sense to do it on both.... What I would do-? IF the rod bolts didn't thread back on smoothly, I'd probably replace them. THOROUGHLY examine the rod & crank bearing surfaces for ANY gouging or metal DEPOSIT (on the crank). IF every thing looks OK, I'd button it back up and use it. Like I mentioned earlier, I'd start off slow and work your way "up" on the throttle for a minute or so and back for the first 15-30 minutes. Go up to speed a bit more each time and then idle. REPEAT until you are up to full throttle. LISTEN for the start of any noise. If you hear anything "abnormal at any time, shut it down. If not, go mow. If you make it through the first hour of mowing, you're probably good.

Update: The position of the shower diverter valve appears to not be a causative factor. It was leaking again with the diverter set midway, and the faucet dripping slightly. Turning the knobs very hard to 100% off seems to have stopped it again. I'm still not clear on why there would be no leakage during a shower, even a long one, but there would be leakage from a very slight drip from the faucet. Is there some kind of weird backpressure issue that could cause this?

A little bit of beige may not be bad. Yellow reflects on itself and gets more intense. Whatever you think your final choice is, be sure to paint ALL of your old cabinets with it before you order. I love the fact that it's so hard to pick colors but the world conspires to make it even harder. The Aura fan deck is impossible to use if you want to see two colors next to each other, and you can't hang it vertically on a wall (all colors are darker that way). The paint store will always present you with an "issue" or "problem" that prevents you from getting the samples you need, and they make it too expensive anyway. Chips will either fall of the wall because you used painters tape, or rip off the paint because you didn't. It is making me insane and I would happily hire someone to do this just to avoid the insanity. My neighbors' kids and their friends have been setting off little snapper firecrackers all day. I keep hoping.

there is a plant propogation book i have wherein the author describes his own mist system. that author has a large black coil of hose in the roof of his greenhouse so that water can be heated before reaching the mist nozzles. that's at least one vote for using warm water and keeping the cuttings reasonably warm as they root. just thought i would toss that in! lol. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by: mosaic z8 LA (My Page) on Sun, May 11, 03 at 11:59 With such a setup you could probably root roses under mist all winter here in Louisiana. And even though I had a pressure regulator on there, I kept having a problem with the heads blowing off! (Their drippers work perfectly by the way so it's nothing against the company) I ordered foggers from Misty Mate this year and they put out a super fine fog. Perfect for propagation. They are a litte more expensive than the ones from Dripworks but worth it. And if you ask they will ship the misting heads for $1.50. I went to HD and bought a 10-24 tap and drill set (3.00) and drilled holes in my 1/2" cvpvc and the heads just screwed right in! I bought a Melnor timer at HD for $39 and it has 1 minute spray options so I've got it set for 1 minute every 10 minutes. Can't remember the model number but it's not the one on the HD website. I hope to finish my new propagation box soon. I built one on a stand this year so I can move it around easily. Wouldn't you know, HD has plastic sheeting made just for greenhouses that I used! It's not the real thick heavy stuff either. It's only 4mil and is crystal clear see-thru! Hopefully I'll be finished this week!
