Houzz.....why

At the top of the KT forum the title is "Home & Garden Discussions" not "Kitchen Table," which would not matter much but when searching for something it does not give me the option of searching on KT.

Also problems with the ipad not recognizing my account, but I've developed a work around for that so I'm living with that.

Have never seen GW or Houzz having so many glitches.

Anyway, I wanted to post a follow up to my whining post about Google calendar problems. Could anyone find that for me?

The top of my page says The Kitchen Table. However,

The Safari bookmark on my iphone for The Kitchen Table no longer works. It takes me to a page of threads of mixed home forums. Not sure why though, the same Safari bookmark works correctly from MacBook Air.

Gretchen, there is no longer a conversation page. What's interesting is they said there would be no separate 'Exchanges' page, but it's still on the opening page Texas Garden Exchange and clicking it will take you there. However, the posts for the Ft. Worth Trinity Park and San Antonio plant swap originally posted there have somehow ended up on the 'main' forum. Oh well ... Anyway I inquired to Houzz why I could not edit my 'plants for swapping list' on the "WANTED: San Antonio Plant Swap" thread and received this reply: "Thanks for reaching out. Just for clarification, original posts can be edited for up to one hour to allow for typo corrections, but comments can be edited for up to one week. Sorry for any confusion!" The one hour thing includes editing the subject line. I just tried it on the 'defunct' Texas Garden Exchange.

I am so glad none of this has happened to me. I am media challenged as it is. Fortunately, I have simply not left Gardenweb in a long time. I leave a page open to whichever forum I was reading last, and just reopen that page on my tablet when I want to visit gardenweb. The last time I had difficulty, probably nearly a year ago, someone suggested that I choose nearly every forum on gardenweb as a “favorite,” and that created a list of forums that is always visible on the left side of my screen. I simply navigate to any forum I have on my list by clicking on it. I never log off or on, and never touch Houzz.

When we put in our pool at the beachhouse, I fell in love with a pool literally surrounded by blue hydrangea, my fave. My LA was not enthusiastic, as he said that they don't always do well oceanfront, so I compromised with just a line of them along one part of the fence. I understand your frustration. I am 60, but still grew up in an era where tradesmen took pride in the work that they did and had a modicum of respect for their elders. I am noticing more and more contractors that treat me as though I don't know quality workmanship from piss poor workmanship as I age and feel like they are treating me like I am 90, blind and senile. My plumber recently sent his son to complete a job for me. They took out the old plumbing for a regular shower and replaced it with plumbing for a ceiling mount rain shower. The original plumbing was all copper, the new is Pex tubing. When the kid was done and was cleaning up I told him to leave the copper pipe (figured I could take it in with my cans and other metal for recycling). He looked me dead in the eye and said that isn't my copper pipe - he brought it with him. I had "before" pictures, so I could have proven that it was my pipe, but it wasn't worth the argument. I have another $5k of plumbing work that needs to be done when I renovate my kitchen and laundry room and he just lost the job for his dad and their company over $5.00 worth of copper pipe. Did he really think I didn't know? Same bathroom renovation - I bought a schluter board system to waterproof the shower area. I had a tile installer come over and tell me that he could do the job quicker and easier with drywall and redguard. It would work the same as the Schluter board. He could take the kit I had and use it somewhere else and he wouldn't charge me for the drywall and red guard, just labor costs. I am thinking to myself - you must think I am boo boo the fool! I priced all the options before I purchased the Schluter system and I knew that Schluter was almost impossible to get due to COVID supply chain issues. I had it and had enough to do my bathroom and this dumb kid thought he would swindle me? Really? I used to get 3 bids for a job and knew what the parts and labor costs would be, now they don't want to give me a written bid, if they do they don't want to break out the costs and don't want to specify materials being used. I had a guy bid out the tile for my bathroom and gave me a great price, but when I pushed for a breakdown his estimate had less tile. He wasn't taking the tile all the way to the ceiling (remember I have a ceiling mount rain shower). I feel like I have to know how to know how to do everything, even the stuff I am not physically able to do, so I can watch and make sure the person I hire isn't taking shortcuts or doing shoddy work.

Happy, I have that same issue, but I have 2 bookmarks for the KT and one works correctly, but not the other! Strange.

The top has not said Kitchen Table for a very long time for me. The little icons by the thread does but that is it. This week I see they have a new first page in stead of all the subjects a list of who knows what. It's very annoying.

If it says houzz on the link, it doesnt say kitchentable If you use the link, that says gardenweb in it, then it says kitchen table at the top. There are a few other differences in the look too.

Elmer, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, making a new bookmark for KT did not solve the problem on the iphone. It brought me to Houzz.com and the title of the page is 32 kitchentable Discussions. Per cat_ky's advice I googled "The Kitchen Table garden web" which linked to KT with Garden web url. I bookmarked it, but it brought to 32 kitchentable...

Socks, I discovered that when I click The Kitchen Table in the Your Topics sidebar, the title is "Home and Garden Discussions".

So far the bookmark for KT on the Macbook works just fine- url is gardenweb.com and title is The Kitchen Table.

Edited to add that I did not activate the links. Must be due to automatic formatting.

I can't control anything GW on my kitchen laptop. No matter what I try all I get is a page called "Your Topics". But they aren't even my topics. Most of them I've visited once or twice in the past few years, lots of hot topics and decorating problems but can't get KT or other forum I need for the life of me.

I've shut down & restarted, edited "my topics" by removing or changing all check marks. Typed all kinds of things in browser and google trying to get here with a fresh search and no go. This has gone on for days and I give up. I have access to GW from desktop upstairs. Use it in the evenings when I come up.. Not happy.

Oh yeah, boy, I'm unhappy. My old links keep bringing me to a new page "Your Topic". The *last* thing I want is to not know where I am, esp when I'm posting to hot topics vs home decor convos. And other posts from other forums keep getting merged in.

Not good! Houzz...please fix!

I don’t know if this link will help anyone but I use it with Google via Firefox on my iPad and Google via Chrome on my iPhone. It opens up to the KT page and never redirects me to Houzz so maybe it will work for you too. I keep it along with several links I use frequently pinned to my google page.

Link that directs to KT.

(ETA: before you use this link, you may want to clear your old cache and cookies first)
