Any Great Ideas For Cheap Materials to Build a Raised Bed?
Comments (45)Has anyone tried wattle fencing? Works great for raised beds. That's what I did with these two. Instead of filling the whole thing with dirt I did the whole lasagna deal. Working like a charm. Mine are 1.5 feet high but you can go as high as you can find sturdy uprights for. All you need is bendable branches for the weaving, sturdy "sticks" for the uprights and compostable material for the middle. They look rustic and work beautifully AND I don't have to get rid of my brush from the winter....See MoreNeed aesthetically pleasing ideas for tomato support
Comments (21)This is not particularly cheap, but it has worked well for me in finding a pretty way to keep tomatoes off the ground. I pound about a 3 foot piece of rebar about 1 foot into the ground. Then, I fit a 1/2 inch copper pipe over it. The rebar was free to me, but the copper pipe cost $13 each. I use this as a stake to tie my plants to. I may buy some copper finials on ebay to put on top of the pipe....See MoreMurphy bed pics
Comments (33)we had a murphy in a door bed when I was growing up in Chicago. In the apartment in the dining area was a closet and we'd roll the bed out (it would be standing up on end) and lower it and then lift it up and roll it back into its closet. it was very nice when it was in the closet there was about 3 feet of unused space at each end I claimed those spaces as my own and had a small desk on one side and orange crates stacked oin the other end for shelves I had many happy times in there listening to my radio.Wish I could find a photo of it...See MoreMurphy Bed / Office
Comments (7)Thanks for the great ideas Annie, White River and Fun! I like all 3 - the butterfly and the Ikea chairs are light and easily moveable. I think the room might be too small for a loveseat at the end of the bed (when its down) but I'll just have to measure and see. That would be great - sit in the loveseat with a cup of coffee and look out the window and when there is a guest, just pull the bed down and move the loveseat to the end of the bed. Thanks very much for the ideas! Ratherbe, yes, this is my room now - we just purchased a furnished condo at the beach. But the built-ins will stay as is - actually I'm kind of liking them, took me a bit, but its good storage space and I like the desk and it opens up the living/dining space nicely....See MoreLula Fl
