I've finally done some garden junking again!!
Comments (12)TY, it was a process for sure. First I had to find a pallet that was pretty close by, because I have a very small car. I found some a block away, but the business was always closed as I went to and from work. One Sat, I decided to drive by and lo and behold, they were open! You know that look you get when you ask for something that someone else is going to throw away? Yep, I got that look! But he even helped me load it into my car. I got a can of paint, and used some left over primer I already had. Getting my hands dirty was just the BEST!!! Thank you all for your kind replies :))...See MoreI've Done It Again!!!!
Comments (15)You bet your sweet bippie I know if someone has been in my car. I know every inch of that baby and every sound. Thanks to Neil from now on i'll know if there is a shaver riding along with me. :0) Michelle, you know I don't care if you laugh with or at me so long as you laugh. Suzanne, at 21 degrees I would have already "frozen to death" ....See MoreWell, I've done it again. I killed my African Violet in one week
Comments (3)twobit, don't worry, you did nothing wrong. You have to remember, that poor plant had been taken from a very controlled greenhouse, shipped in a dark truck, stuck in a too dark too dry store, and then to your house. The poor thing is just in shock. It's had a radical change in its environment, and dropping the flowers is a survival mechanism. Remember also, plants flower for two reasons; either they're happy, or they're stressed and trying to reproduce before they die. It's generally pretty easy to tell the difference. So, check out the FAQ on the main forum page, because you *will* want to transplant it out of that peat. Give it a couple of months after that and it'll probably start blooming for you. Also, check the link below; Rachel has lots of useful cultural info, with pictures! Good luck and keep asking questions. Comments (9)Matt, You could very well be right in your ID. as I did a ton of research yesterday and did write down H. Motoskeii. It was the closest to what I have that I could find. Now as far as it being the same plant, well that could very well be true too. (but they look so different side by side?) I did think of that as I was searching through many pages of Hoya pictures and I think you maybe right. The growing conditions of the plant that I got cuttings from was less than optimal, being grown hydoponicly and not great light, and could well be older growth vs new. I'll plant them up separately and see what happens. I've included 2 links for everyone to follow. The person who writes these articles seems highly educated about Hoyas and puts out this Hoya newsletter. (I have to go back and read some more myself:-) Interesting read!
